We all sat there in silence for a while until Ricky turned to me and took my hand.
"I'm so sorry." he said, big blue eyes looking a bit tearful. "I promise nothing's happened. Nothing will happen. I promise."
"It's not you I'm worried about Rick." I told him honestly. "She fancies you. I don't blame her, you're as handsome as you are talented, clever and funny, and I know she's not the only person to fancy you. How can I compare to her though? She's famous and beautiful. She has one of the most famous bottoms in the world. I'm nothing compared to that peachy bottom and kissy face."
"Oh but you're better. You're the most beautiful woman in the world." he told me, taking my face in his hands and staring into my eyes. Sometimes I thought he could see into my head when he looked at me like that. "You're the one I want to be with. Okay?"
I nodded and he kissed me hard. So hard and meaningful that I thought my heart might jump out of my chest and hit him.
"You've got my lipstick all over you now!" I giggled. "Can I use this?" I asked as I took the union flag hanky out of his pocket.
He nodded so I wiped my dark redish purple lipstick off his lips and then Kylie's bright pink lipstick off his cheek.
"I'll wash that tomorrow!" he laughed as I showed him the smudges on the hanky.
"I should go and tidy up mine." I told him as I got up.
"The nearest ladies is on the left after Taylor Swift!" he called after me as if this was just standard directions.
I froze for a moment. "She's here too?"
Ricky nodded and grinned knowing I like her music. I walked past a tables with so many important person in the music industry until I got to Taylor Swift. I stopped for a moment and grinned. She looked up at me for a moment and smiled back. Excuse me while I turn all fan girl for a moment. I couldn't speak I was so excited!
When I got to the toilets I stood still taking a few deep breaths and then turned to the mirror to redo my lipstick that had faded from eating and kissing. Just as I finished applying the cubicle door behind me opened and who walked out? Kylie. She washed and dried her hands then turned to do her lipstick in the mirror. She didn't even look at me. I wasn't sure if she remembered sitting opposite me at Ricky's birthday and feeling my man's leg but I sure as hell did.
"Leave my man alone." I said in a small voice.
"Excuse me?" she asked.
"Leave my boyfriend alone." I said a bit louder.
"I don't know who your boyfriend is sweetie." she smiled.
"Ricky Wilson." I told her. "Leave Ricky alone. You can have any man you like just not him."
"You're not his girlfriend." she frowned. "You're just a fan."
"I was sat opposite you at his birthday dinner at The Ivy last month. He wore a checked shirt and suit. You wore a red dress. I'm the one who made the cake, three layered chocolate with raspberry jam. If I'm just a fan I wouldn't know that kind of thing. I also know you kept touching his leg and that you tried to kiss him earlier but he turned away." I said with growing conviction. "So I'm going to ask you politely this time. Stop flirting with my boyfriend, stop touching him and trying to kiss him. You may be able to get any man you want but Ricky's the only man I want so back off."
I took a deep breath and left. I did it, I sighed to myself. I stood up for the man I love. With surprising class too. I walked as fast as I could back to our table.
"Are you alright?" Ricky asked as I sat down.
"Yeah, I just had a very brisk walk." I replied. Well, it was sort of true.
The lights changed and the host walked on stage. I squeezed Ricky's hand with excitement. There were performances and awards from some amazing people and all I had to do was sit and watch.
Jessie was up on stage looking amazing as always as she sang Thunder in front of a wind machine. She'd changed into a short white sequinned leotard type of thing with a long chiffon robe. Long was an understatement! The skirt and open arms of it were meters long so that they fluttered out behind her like a cape.
"Great make up!" the lads in the band cheered as she finished, making me laugh. My biggest fans!
Later on Ricky leant over to give me a kiss and whispered that he'd see me later. He got up with the band and headed off backstage. I'd been so amazed with the show that I forgot they were performing! There was a few awards presented and a performance before they were on.
"And now it's time for another performance." The host announced. "This band have brought us some of the best indie rock songs in the world over the past ten years. They rose to fame with a song about being really far away from home but now they're Coming Home. Ladies and Gentlemen make a riot for Kaiser Chiefs!"
And I did, I went wild for Kaiser Chiefs! Everyone left around our table stood up to cheer, applaud and shout our love for them. I grinned like a mad woman with pride as I looked up at them while they performed an acoustic version of Coming Home. They'd changed clothes into more casual outfits, jeans and tshirts, for the performance. About half way through the music changed.
"Ruby Ruby Ruby!" Ricky belted out.
He grabbed his microphone out of the stand and ran like a sexy bullet along the strip of stage that led to a smaller stage, singing as he ran. He knew how to work the room and got the audience singing along as he jumped around. As he sang the last chorus he stopped level with our table and pointed right at me.
"Do ya, do ya, do ya?" he sang.
"Yes!" I screamed back and threw my arms in the air.
He winked at me then shot off back to the band to finish. A camera man ran up to our table to film us as we applauded, presumably told to film the wives and girlfriends of the band going crazy for their men.
When they came back I grabbed Ricky and gave him a long, hot kiss. I didn't care if the whole world was watching. I didn't care who saw me snog his face off.
"You were amazing!" I told him.
"Thanks!" he laughed.
"And so sexy!" I grinned.
He grabbed me around the waist and kissed me as passionately as I'd pounced on him.
"Screw lipstick!" he laughed and wiped my face and then his with a napkin and then threw it away somewhere. "Screw tv cameras and being in public! I love you Juliette Swan!"
"I love you too Ricky Wilson!" I beamed.
We couldn't keep our hands off each other. We couldn't help it. Kissing like randy teenagers in front of our friends and lots of strangers. He took my hand and pulled me between the tables. I caught a glimpse of Kylie's disappointed face as we passed. I couldn't help laughing.
We ran down a corridor laughing and ducked into the first open door we found. A disabled toilet. We locked the door and returned to our feverishly passionate embrace. His trousers were pushed down, the skirt of my dress pushed up and I was slammed against the wall or the door. I wasn't sure and didn't care.
We left the toilet looking very guilty and giggling. We'd straightened our clothes and tried to make our ruffled hair look passable.
"You're a bad influence on me. You'll be my undoing." he purred in my ear as we walked back to the table with arms around each other.
"Me? You're the one who dragged me into a toilet for a shag!" I laughed, pretending to be shocked.
Everyone around us looked at us as we sat down and tried not to laugh.
"Very subtle!" Whitey laughed and elbowed Rick in the ribs.
That was enough to set us off. I buried my face in Ricky's neck as we laughed. He even smelt good after sex in a public toilet. This man was insane. I loved what had happened to my life since I met him.
"This is crazy!" he laughed.
"I know!" I giggled.
