"Kitties!" I squealed with excitement as we collected Tibby and Fatso from the cattery the next day.
I'd just stepped into their room to find them cuddled together in bed. Tibby leapt out of bed and came running over to me, screaming with happiness. I loved the way she greeted me! She rubbed herself all over my legs and arms as I bent down to kiss and cuddle her.
"I missed you darling!" I told her as she shoved her wet nose in my face. "I missed you so much!"
Fatso slowly got up and waddled over to us with a look of disdain. I'd missed his casual dislike for humans.
"Hey little dude." I smiled as I scratched his head. "I know you missed me too but you don't want to say it!"
"I think you love those two more than you love me!" Ricky laughed from the door.
"No, I just love them differently to you." I smiled as I stood up with Tibby in my arms. "They're my friends, you're my sexy man."
"Good answer!" he chuckled and gave Tibby a stroke. "Let's take these purrers home so you guys can continue the cuddling."
"Good luck getting this love bug off me." I laughed as Tibby sunk her claws into my tshirt in refusal to move.
She screamed like she was being murdered as a Ricky prized her off me, claw by claw. I scooped up Fatso and pushed him into his carrier before he could realise what was going on. He hated that box with a vengeance. He'd shoot out of it in a ginger flash the second he got home. He screamed all the way home in the car while Tibby just tucked up politely in her carrier and occantionally let out a little meow.
"Shut up Fatty, we're home." Ricky sighed as he parked the car.
As always Fatty shot out of his carrier and went to sulk in the floor length curtains. He'd sit in long fabric and howl until Tibby came to batt him on the tail to shut up. He always listened to her. He was utterly smitten with her and would let her boss him about. If Ricky tried to boss him about there would be scratches but Tibby could put her little white paw down on any matter and he'd do as she wanted.
We spent the evening curled up on the sofa watching rubbish television while Tibby lay on her back on my lap purring and letting me stroke her tummy. I wasn't really watching whatever it was on tv but listening to the purring and enjoying all the love.
"If she got any more relaxed she'd be dribbling." Ricky smiled and gave Tibby's tummy a tickle.
"We're both so happy to be reunited." I smiled. "There's so much love tonight."
"Not just between you and the cats." he pointed out, kissing me. "I meant what I said about setting a date to make you Mrs Wilson."
"I was thinking about that." I said.
"Oh, take it easy!" he laughed, which earned him a slap on the leg.
"Is New Year's Eve or Day too soppy?" I asked.
"No, lots of people get married at New Year." he shrugged.
"It's our anniversary." I rolled my eyes. Had he really forgotten already.
"Yeah, I knew that." he replied, looking a bit guilty. "Wait, can we organise this all in less than six months?"
"Hmm, that's a good point. Most places will be booked up already." I sighed.
"What about Valen..." he started to say but I cut him off.
"No! Absolutely not on commercial love day! Way too soppy!" I snapped.
"I don't know then." he sighed and scratched his stubble. "Should we pick a random date out of a hat?"
"Not a bad idea actually." I shrugged.
