Emilia stared up at the building that stood before her with a confused look on her face. She double checked the address that Luther had written down in a piece of paper before looking back up at the boxing gym in front of her. This was where Diego lived?
Emilia let out a small sigh and stuffed the piece of paper into her pocket before heading inside. She was instantly met with the smell of b.o. while the sound of men grunting and gloves hitting skin filled the air. She stepped all the way in, the door closing behind her, and looked around at the few rings that were set up.
They were all empty except for the one in the middle that had two men fighting each other while an older man told them what to do. "Move your feet. Tuck in your elbow," the old man directed. Emilia walked forward hesitantly and said, "Excuse me?"
The old man turned to look at her and he sighed as he walked over to the side of the ring. "Sorry, lady. Jewelry store is a few doors down," he told her as if he had had to tell a lot of women that. "I'm not looking for jewelry," Emilia said as she scrunched up her nose in disgust.
"What? Are you looking to box? We've never had a female fighter here before. That would definitely be interesting," the man said. Emilia was about to tell him why she was really here when she saw that the men who had been fighting were now laughing at her and the idea of her being a boxer.
Emilia frowned and looked over at the two. "What? Got a problem?" Emilia asked. The men looked over and her and one stood up before shaking his head. "No, ma'am," he said mockingly which only made the girl angrier. "Then why are you two giggling in the corner like two schoolgirls?" Emilia asked.
The man narrowed his eyes before saying, "We were not giggling." Emilia just smirked and pretended to look at her nails in interest. "Sure looked like it from here," she said. The man growled before gesturing towards the ring. "Fine. We were laughing at the thought of a girl boxing, but if you want to show us how it's down, then go right ahead," he challenged.
Emilia smirked before dropping her purse on the floor and climbing into the ring with ease. She grabbed the hair tie that she always kept around her wrist and tied up her hair before looking over at the guy. "Bring it," she said.
The old man laughed before pointing at Emilia. "I like this girl," he said. "Someone give her a pair of gloves!" Emilia was handed a pair of gloves within a few seconds and she put them on quickly as if she had done it a million times before. She looked up at the man who had challenged her and smirked while everyone else got out of the ring.
"You sure you still want to do this?" The man asked. "Awe, are you concerned about my wellbeing or your own?" She asked. The man narrowed his eyes and she smirked before standing straight up. "Go ahead. I'll let you take the first swing," she told him. The man looked at her in disbelief before he glared at her and threw a punch.
