SIDE STORY: THE FALL OF THE BLACK LOTUS Chapter 9:

"If only my eyes will be forever close like this and my heart would stop beating"

Madame Yu knocked three times, but no one answered, she entered the room, it's clean, proper and quiet as ever. She saw a man lying on the bed and sleeping soundly, she stared at her son's face. Jiang Cheng look pitiful, dark lines formed on his forehead, a drop of tears on the corner of his left eye. Madame Yu felt like the whole word fall onto her and thousands of knives is stabbing her and rose vines tangled her heart. She left quietly to let Jiang Cheng rest, she has the power but she can't disagree with her husband. After all, the man who's involved is Lan Xichen. The brother-in-law of her adopted son, Wei Wuxian! No one could just say YES to it, their two sons married to the same family? Isn't that laughable? The whole world will mock and laugh at their sect if that'll happen!

"I can't feel anything anymore but I remember the feeling of the past, the feeling when I see your smile. The feeling when you held my hand that time. I pretended I hate it but I love your touch, it's soft and gentle, I can tell that it's a hand of someone who will take care of the one he love."

"Right now, in this endless darkness, I can still see your sweet smile and hear your gentle laugh. I have to admit that you won over me, you won over my hollow heart. But I can only admit it silently. This is only between me and my heart."

It's already afternoon but Jiang Cheng never showed up in the training grounds or in front of Jiang Fengmian and Madame Yu. The first thing that flashes through their minds is that he run away! He wanted to escape and abandoned his marriage tomorrow. Jiang Fengmian and Madame Yu rushed to their son's room, but not as they expected, Jiang Cheng didn't run away. He's still in his room, the same position, the same situation. Jiang Cheng is still sleeping, but it's been a whole day.

"Jiang Cheng!" Madame Yu tried to wake him up but it was useless.

In the middle of the darkness, a man sitting alone and all curled up, "It's getting colder, why am I here in the first place?" he cackled, there's a smile on his face but it doesn't symbolize happiness.

"Ah~ Right!" He chuckled, "I got thrown away, right? Who would want me anyway? Even my father doesn't want me in the first place." He paused with a smile, "If I wait here patiently, will someone would come and pick me up? Hahaha, that's impossible, just what I'm hoping for? This is really miserable!" The man is laughing at himself again, thousands of emotions swirling inside him, he's starting to spout some words that don't connect to each other. He probably gone mad, is this the result of too much pain? He's starting to close his eyes, what's the point of keeping them open anyway? The whole place is dark, he can't see anything, no structures, no living being, not even a single line of light.

When he's about to close them, a faint voice echoed in the whole place. He can't discern what the voice is saying or whose voice it belongs to.

"Cheng... Cheng... Jiang Cheng!"

The words and the voice is getting clearer, that's right, the man sitting alone in the dark is none other than Jiang Cheng. A light appeared in front of him, probably the exit of this endless darkness. He recognized the voice but it's not the voice he wanted to hear, it's not the voice of that person.

"No, I don't want it!" He murmured, he doesn't want to come out to that world of pain again. "Unless it's him, I don't want to!" he added.

Wei Wuxian and the two jades arrived at the place where Lan Xichen stayed unconscious for the whole three days. They monitored the place but nothing is unusual at all, the only thing that's strange is the small temple that was mentioned by Lan Xichen before, it's old and tattered. Seems like no one is taking care of it, Wei Wuxian spotted a bowl of hot buns and fruits in front of the altar. No one is taking care of it but someone is still worshiping it? If they care to pray and offer, why no one bother to clean and fix the temple?

"Who's there?" Lan Wangji unsheathed bichen pointing at one of the pillars. Wei Wuxian and Lan Xichen also pulled out Shouyue and Cheqing as they also noticed the presence of someone hiding behind that pillar.

A figure slowly revealing itself, their eyes widened, a boy around ten of years came out from the dark and his body is trembling in fear. Who wouldn't get scared? There are three grown men with weapons on their hands, pointing at him and shouting. Who wouldn't get scared?
