MDZS Fanfic - Arrange Marriage

SIDE STORY: THE FALL OF THE BLACK LOTUS Chapter 11:

Images drifting one by one, Lan Xichen watched it disappears slowly. Sometimes his lips curved up and most of time it curved down. One image pictured two kids smiling brightly in front of a woman, another one is learning, writing, reading, and practicing cultivation with their uncle, the moment where one of them falls in love, the time where he watched his younger brother cries for the first time, and the time he met someone who he never thought that will lit up the candle of his life. Lan Xichen doesn't know whether to laugh or cry as he watches his memories from childhood to present. Step followed by another step, it only halted when he's 1 step away from an image, he caress it gently as if it's not just a merely image but the person in it is real and standing in front of him.

"So that's how it is, I'm sorry for forgetting about you" He smiled bitterly, tears falls slowly, drops after drops.

His eyes slowly opening, he saw Lan Wangji looking at him with Wei Wuxian and Jiang Fengmian behind him. Even though his memories are still foggy and blurry, everything became clear to him like a crystal that shines above.

"Brother, are you okay?" Lan Wangji asked. His face is expressionless as ever but Lan Xichen know him very well.

"I'm fine, I'm fine" He waved his hand and stood up to lessen the worries of his brother. He shot a glance at Jiang Fengmian and lowered his head. Lan Wangji and the others realized that his memories returned and a faint  smile can be distinguished on their faces but Jiang Fengmian stayed stiff. 

 He knew that Lan Xichen felt guilty for some reason, maybe because he completely forgotten about Jing Cheng or maybe because of the fuss he made on the wedding day. When he arrived at the scene and heard everything that the young lady said and in that moment he figured out the reason of Jiang Cheng condition. Even though he was shaken when Lan Xichen collapsed, it won't change his mood right away but after considering that Lan Xichen might have no idea of Jiang Cheng's condition and he knew that this man in white has no ill intention and didn't wished for it in purpose. Since Jiang Fengmian is not a man of pride, he buried his doubt along with all of the negative emotions he has for Lan Xichen. 

"Explain yourself, why did you think in that way? Why did you give up that easily? Instead of trying harder, you gave in to your own emotions and spout those rubbish words that made the both of you fall into a miserable condition!" Jiang Fengmian said with a serene voice.

"Both? What happened to Wanyin? Uncle Jiang did something happen to Wanyin? Lan Xichen clutched his robe and begged. Jiang Fengmian thought that Lan Xichen will kneel and kowtow to him and just like what he thought, with a loud 'thud' Lan Xichen falls on his knees, his head touches the ground while his hands are gripping the ground. Everyone was dumbfounded and become a wooden person, Jiang Fengmian never thought that he would actually do it.

"Brother!" Lan Wangji held his right hand and tried to pull him up but was brushed off. Lan Wangji eyes widened, his whole body froze. He never thought that a day would come when his brother will brush him off like that. Never in his life, Lan Xichen treated him this way because his brother is always kind and caring to him. Lan Wangji felt sad and worried at the same time, Lan Xichen must be really depressed and confused, his lost to his own emotion and thoughts.

"Brother....."

Wei Wuxian knows that Lan Wangji is extremely worried for Lan Xichen but it won't help, he dragged him out of the scene as they heard the next word that comes out from Lan Xichen's mouth.

"Please!" His voice is hoarse, he repeated this word and begged continuously. Jiang Fengmian fret with the thought that Lan Xichen was about to cry in front of him. He never saw nor heard that Lan Xichen once cried over something, his heart tightened but he can't be soft right now. He wanted to harden his heart to secure his son's heart and life but the moment he saw the drops of water falling from the covered face of Lan Xichen that thought disappeared into thin air. Lan Xichen is crying, the man who always wears a smile on his face is crying, the very person who always cared for others is crying and begging to a certain person. If someone were to see this, they will think that the other man is a horrible person. 

"Xichen!" Jiang Fengmian pulled him up, and lifted is face to confirm if he's really crying.

"Uncle Jiang! Please tell me that Wanyin is fine! Please!" Lan Xichen whimpers like a child. 

Jiang Fengmian touches his face gently to comfort him, after a while Lan Xichen calmed down and stopped crying. They sat on a long wooden seat of the temple, after the long silence he took the initiative to talk.

"Xichen, A-Cheng is in a bad condition."

Lan Xichen eyes widened and stood up, "What? What happened to him?" his voice and body trembled.

"Sit down first" After Lan Xichen settled, Jiang Fengmian let out a deep breath, he never thought that he would actually accept Lan Xichen. Before he strode the long road to meet Lan Xichen, he already decided to hand over his son to him. What else he can do? Is there another option to save his son? He can't think of any other way, and he believed that Lan Xichen is the only answer.

"Xichen, listen to me... Can you promise that you'll take care of him and will never hurt him?"

Lan Xichen stood up again, his face brightened and his eyes shows an unspeakable happiness. "Uncle Jiang! I will cherish him! I promise!" He lifted three fingers and with a serious face he smiled at Jiang Fengmian.

Jiang Fengmian smiled back but it disappeared instantly, "Xichen, I have a faith in you. I believe that you're the only one who could wake Jiang Cheng up from his endless dream."

"Uncle Jiang, what exactly happened to wanyin?" Lan Xichen asked.

As Jiang Fengmian explained everything, Lan Xichen bit his lips and gritted his teeth multiple times. He never thought that his nonsense babbling in front of this temple would hurt Jiang Cheng.

A/N: Again, sorry for the slow update and this is a short chapter (≧▽≦) but I'll be updating another chapter tonight. Yer! I'll update at least 3 chapters in my day off cuz I got a long weekend!!! And the other chapters will be longer, i just needed a rest and charge my laptop before i continue to write again. 

Sorry if there's some mistakes and unclear parts, i have a fever since last night until now, my head still hurts and i feel dizzy. I'll just check it up and fix it later when i feel a little bit better.
