SIDE STORY: STRAIGHTENING HIS PATH CHAPTER 6

The growl is getting more furious, Jin GuangYao is still trying to convince Nie Mingjue that there's nothing in the room but a simple persuading won't work on Nie Mingjue. He pushed Jin GaungYao aside and opened the room with a strong push. The moment he stepped in, an awful smell greet him.

"This smell" he looked around but there's nothing out of ordinary. "There's nothing here, but the noises and this awful smell... I'm pretty sure it's an undead and not just one..." He glared at Jin Guangyao and ordered everyone to start the search.

Everyone searched in every corner of the room, but nothing was found. The growl, the scratching noises, the smell, the presence that fills the whole room, the cold wind the make their body shiver, he cannot be mistaken. Nie Mingjue knows that somewhere in this room, something unbelievable is being kept hidden. But where? They flipped the whole room upside down but there's none. He switched his eyes to Jin GuangYao who's been silently watching every move they make.

Nie Mingjue was closely observing everyone and Jin Guangyao, he walk slowly, touch and inspect everything in the room. While doing so, he never missed the changes on Jin Gaungyao expression. The next thing he realized is that he's already in front of a mirror, the mirror looks normal outside but a weak and not so noticeable power can be felt from it. Nie mingjue stared at it, other than the weak presence coming from the mirror there's nothing else, no noises and no sign of any undead or evil spirit. But the growl has yet to stop, he turned around to Jin GuangYao to see if there are any changes to his expression.

Sweats roll down from his forehead to his chin, he gulped and clenched his fist. The mirror is a door that will lead to his treasure chamber, there is no undead or any living things in there but there are plenty of things that will reveal all of his crime in that secret room. Nie Mingjue noticed that Jin Gaunyao tensed up the moment he paid attention to the mirror.

"This mirror, what is this?" He glared at him.

"It's... nothing Brother." Jin Guanyao replied.

"There's something off about this mirror, tell me what it is?" His tone sounds like a threat, everyone in the room went silent and stopped.

"Bro—Brother..."

"A-yao! Don't make me angry more than I am now, or I might do something terrible." There's no hint of joke in his voice, any moment of delay and he might strike Jin GuangYao dead if he won't do as he told.

"Older Brother!" Lan Xichen called from behind as he walk towards them. "Let me handle this" He patted Nie Mingjue shoulder and smiled.

"A-Yao, we are all cultivators here and the three of us are sect leaders. We know that there's something special about that mirror, how about you tell us what it is?" Lan Xichen calmly said.

Jin Guangyao hesitated, everything will be revealed now... Everything will be let out, his crimes, how despicable he is, his schemes, his shameful and ugly past, all of it will be out and everyone will surely spit on his grave after they kill him.

"That mirror... leads to my treasure chamber" He said.

"Then, can you open it for us? We want to see what's inside" Nie Mingjue ordered. Jin Guanyao knew that he would order him to lead them inside, he knew that all of his escape ropes are now been cut-off.

"This is the end... After this, everyone will point their blades to me, after knowing everything all of them will despise me. My brother, my sworn brothers, the whole sects, the whole world will surely hate me and resent me. After all, I killed them... I killed everyone, my father, my wife and my son. But what choice do I have? What can I do? If I didn't commit all of those sins, will someone accept me as I am? Will anyone love me despite of my past? Despite of how dirty and unwanted I am?"

Jin Gaungyao was lost in his own thoughts, he has no other choice but to accept everything now. That's right... Does he have any other choice? He let out a sigh and walked towards the mirror, the moment the mirror opened the way to the treasure chamber, a loud noise and awful smell instantly comes out.

It's the same noise and smell... the growl and smell of an undead.

There are dead bodies lying on the ground which are the reason of the awful smell, while the loud growl came from the fierce corpses that instantly dashed toward them the moment they step in the chamber.

"All of you draw your sword and kill every last of them!" Nie Mingjue commanded.

"Sect Leader Nie! There are over fifty fierce corpses!" Another cultivator shouted.

"You! Call for others to come here and help!" Lan Xichen ordered the young cultivator who's standing outside the chamber.

Jin GuangYao was muddled, "Why there are dead bodies in his chamber? Why there are fierce corpses in his treasure chamber?" he asked himself. Every crime he committed, he made sure that no evidence will be left. In every action he took against someone, he ensured that he won't be suspected for it. So why is this happening?

Not too long, other cultivators including the other Sect leaders arrived at the scene. No one has the time to explain everything but one can grasp a detail just from the situation itself. No one wasted time to complain or point a finger. Exterminating the Fierce corpse come first, the one who's responsible can wait after.

With the cooperation of cultivators who are present, dealing with the fierce corpses ended faster than expected. Everyone was exhausted and some were running out of energy. Nie Mingjue who's still standing firmly, inspect everything in the chamber without taking a short rest.

Swords... Sabers... Books... Letter.

"A Letter?" Nie mignjue murmured.

The letter is dirty and old, some part of it are ripped and has bloodstains. He read it... the longer he read it, the darker his expression gets. He slammed the letter on a table, and turned around looking for the man who owns this chamber.

"Where's Jin GaungYao? Where is he!!???" He shouted in rage.

Everyone panicked with the sudden burst of his anger, they looked around and searched for the man but he's not there.

DID HE ESCAPE?
