When Lainey had fainted, her mind dazed into a series of events. She tossed and turned on the ground, only being slightly aware of what was going on around her. She didn't know what the new Shadow Rider and Codebreaker were doing. She didn't know who was winning the fight. All she knew was where she was now. She had been transported to another place.
There was a pole in front of her with a lantern hanging from it. The strangest thing about the lantern was the flame being spread was admitting a blackness of the darkest night. The darkness was all over the city streets. Gray buildings were translucent. The lantern was the only light for miles. A figure stood in front of Lainey, heading closer to her with each passing minute. She wanted to pick up her pace and run away, but she was frozen still in her place.
She couldn't explain why. Her heart was thumping slower than it usually did. The world of love and happiness had been washed away. Would it ever come back? The chill was a blizzard in Lainey; She tried to wiggle her fingers and her toes; Her resolve could help push her through this chill. Stumbling, Lainey couldn't let the chill overtake her and her mind. What had they done to her?
As she was thinking of ways to fight, the figure paced around her. They identified her like she was a specimen in a lab experiment. She could not feel their light touch on her shoulders, but she could loosely make out the shape of the figure. Her eyes were blurry; Her body was as thick as glass, but she could just as easily break. She was too fascinated to speak.
"Hello, Shadow Rider." The figure said.
