"It's a Greek symbol. The ball in her left hand of beryllium, aluminum, silicon, and oxygen minus the copper made in certain ways can create emeralds. I don't know what the flamingo means, but it could mean people adore her. Since this has something to do with my daughter, it must have something to do with her disappearance. This has something to do with Emerald. I know it. The flamingo could mean that Jolene could be lovingly involved with the Magicians. Let me know if you see any more symbols. I'll watch your front and your six," David answered. There could have been traps set in this old tunnel.
In the middle of the tunnel, as they trudged on, they found a little curve in the straight and mostly narrow tunnel. This curve led to another hallway. David tried to use his knife to cut against the door in the right of the hallway, but the door wouldn't budge. He tried this with a few doors, but it wouldn't work. Terek tried to use the knife as well, but it still wouldn't work. They tried looking above them, behind them, ahead of them, and even below them. "Let's try the light emitting from the phone, and you can use some of your magic to get the doors to work. I'm scared to use magic because I just got my learner's permit for it, but I'm not very good at it and I'm afraid that I'll mess it all up-" Terek paused. He was thinking of Cade's death from that thug's gunshot. David had seen it, but it was war.
There was no room for sadness. He would go to Cade's funeral, but in this time period funerals were a waste of money. David wondered if his great ancestor, Piolon, would agree. Based on events in history, he probably would agree with David's viewpoint on this subject.
"Terek, you can do this. Magic hardly ever messes itself up. If you can't channel the light of the day, then channel a conglomeration of emotions into one mega power. Make sure you are motivated by a good emotion because you don't want the darkness and thorns inside of you to take over, since sadness is a slight thorn inside because of all the time it takes from you enjoying your day," David said, touching his former, adoptive son's shoulder in reassurance. Terek faintly smiled. The symbol from earlier of the Greek goddess named Petrathena still haunted both of them.
To help the novice, David held the phone in front of him to the main steel door with the keyless lock and he began to grasp for the power inside him. His fingers on his right hand stretched in front of him toward the door and he tightened his fingers with his mind. Light flood into the door and fill the key slot, David thought to himself. He focused on letting the magic in his head come down to his hands and make the thought a reality. He pushed and pulled, but it didn't take too long for the process to be completed. The area around the steel door with the keyless lock erupted in the fire! Terek had fear in his eyes! David ran to him with the phone cracked half-way down the middle in his hand, and they combined their powers together with touch!
The flames were closing in on them and a beam of light shot toward it! Terek's hesitation caused the beam of light to falter off course. "We're not going to make it!" Terek shouted. Unlike most Azachee leaders and contributors, David wouldn't give him the harsh 'your an Azachee' speech. Instead, David would sympathize with Terek instead of keeping him to the same standards as normal Azachee warriors.
David and Terek ran away from the flames! "We have to stop this before it's a wildfire throughout the entire West Coast!"
David called on the water inside him to fight against the flames, but these flames were of ancient magic that most people wouldn't be able to combat alone. In his mind, David called for the Photonic spirits. "I've called for the Photonic spirits in my mind, and they will come. For now, we have to stop the fires!" David and Terek coughed. They both pulled on oxygen masks since David was prepared for the possibility.
Terek shook when David's hands had sent great water to combat the wildfire. "We could destroy the walls of the cave to send ocean water so you can combine them to kill the fire. You can't just use the splosh you have now," Terek averted his eyes.
