Lainey and the Magicians (First Draft)

Chapter 24

 Lainey moved away from the panel. Just then, her eyes glowed red and her shadowy hands moved through Codebreaker's shoulder armor when he least expected it! Codebreaker bounced back!

 "I didn't mean it! Help!" Lainey yelled. She really hadn't meant it.

 She had to get to Mars. At. Any. Cost. Codebreaker yelped. Light shone through his armor and salt blazed into Lainey's eyes. Her body began to ache. Power rushed through her and black energy made a shadow of Codebreaker to fight back against him! The Codebreaker shadow struck blows against him! Codebreaker twisted its arm and used the electricity inside his armor to fight the shadow! Sick of the darkness of his room, Codebreaker turned the lights on. The shadows faded away. Lainey was thankful, but she wanted to use the power again to help her fight Codebreaker like he was an enemy. She had to get the device. She noticed how she hadn't hugely followed the instructions of her 'new friend' whoever that was. It couldn't have been Codebreaker. Why had Emerald been in his room a few seconds ago?

 "Alright, Lainey. You have a somewhat believable story now that I think about it, but why shouldn't I tell David about you sneaking into my room and aiming to steal a memory-erasing device?" Codebreaker had his hands on his shoulders. Lainey rushed over to help him. Codebreaker already had devices inside his armor of self-healing to go aid his shoulders. It hadn't been too much of a fight and not taken too much of a toll outside his armor. His armor hadn't taken much damage either. That was some of the biggest power Lainey had unleashed in a while even though it was against her will.

 "You need to see what I will do and you have to see who I really am. Once you get to know me, you will realize that you don't need to tell David. I need that device desperately. My emotions betrayed me and the inner Rider took over me for a few moments because that device is everything to me. I can forget about all this and act like I was a normal kid again," Lainey cried. Codebreaker was a spy. Why was she telling all this to him? How did Emerald get into the house? Why was he haunting her like a ghost and not taking much action?

 "That's flawed logic. You learn and grow from your mistakes. Alright, you can leave before I change my mind," Codebreaker summoned her out of his enclave room that wasn't his actual bedroom but acted as one because there was a big bunk bed in the right side of the room up against a wall that could be activated through a few panels. All that security to activate bunk beds. There must have been other processes involved. Lainey couldn't believe it. 

 At the end of the enclave door, there was a note for her. Lainey grabbed it and walked out. Maybe Codebreaker was her 'new friend' after all. She would get the Memory Erasing device tomorrow. 

 At the door of Codebreaker's enclave on the stairs, she walked out and saw Emerald briefly. She rubbed her eyes. He was gone. 

 Sleep overtook her like a drug and she slept near the enclave door like a guard dog with her arms covering her head until the next day in a dreamless sleep. Her mind was tired from all the events going on and was full of sensory overload.
