Lainey opened her eyes! The stop lights had turned green! Cars were already starting to move further into Jopiline, California. The cop car stopped Lainey. She rolled down her window. "Stop. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law." The cop had guided for her car to be stopped in a nice grassy area near the stop lights. The tall and dark-haired cop circled around her car as she opened the door. "May I see your ID?"

"Yes." Lainey's heart was beating. She hoped she could get out of this. She had stolen a car. Magicians were after her. What if this cop was a magician? What if this cop found out about her involvement with magicians? She had weighed her options and the only option was for Lainey to find a way to leave this planet. She handed the 6 foot 6 cop the ID.

The ID card slipped through the cop's fingers. His eyebrows raised as he examined the ID. "Hmm. This ID is old and rusty. This is back from when you were fifteen years old. Anne Boley?" He craned his neck at Lainey's appearance. "Are you sure that's who you are?"

"Yes." Lainey piped up. "I am Anne Boley." That was who she had made up to steal the car and to get out of dodge. That way, she would be convicted if she was caught and that way Lainey wouldn't be convicted of any crimes. In every mystery TV show she had ever watched, all the criminals usually got put in jail by the end of the episode. By TV show logic, she was immune to prosecution since she had only hijacked a car and she hadn't done anything too horrible. It's not like her days as a magician would come to the light.

Even if they had, it still didn't matter because she didn't do anything largely immoral inside that job. Speaking of magicians, wouldn't the police hand her accidentally to some magician if they bailed her out so they could capture her back into their fold? "If you don't believe that I'm Anne Boley, you can take it up with the Boley's of Elgrin." She flipped her head back. Elgrin was a developing island nation in the Pacific ocean and that was where Lantis was also a crown prince who was the son of the monarchial leaders. Hazzaza came from China, but he was rumored to have come from another planet.

The Boley's were a wealthy Elgrin family and they were fourth in line for the throne if anything catastrophic happened to the other three families inside the Elgrin government. She had forged a fake response to officers from the Boley's just in case this exact scenario was to happen. "Saying that proves you aren't Anne Boley. You shouldn't say all the things you are saying because it makes it harder for me to believe. I'll ask the Boley's, but I'm taking you in just in case you are lying. There have been tons of identity threat incidents in Jopiline recently."

"Don't take me in." She handed the officer her phone. He was perplexed at this gesture. No identity thief would hand the officers their phone unless it was a faked phone. "I will come quietly if you wish me to." She bowed her head and nodded it toward the officer.

The officer stepped closer to Lainey. "Alright, but I'm not taking your word for it." He snapped handcuffs around her wrists. The skies were a misty black combined with purple from the recent auroras occurring in the ionosphere in the skyline. Golden stars twinkled and smiled overhead. They were happier than Lainey was at the moment. She smiled up at the skies. Inspiration was appreciated in her world. It was good not to be depressed. "Come with me." People watched from overhead and cars slowly wormed their way past both of them inside the racket of traffic. Jopiline was inhabited by 4.5 million residents who were all packed into a few square miles. The city was crowded as it could be on the coastline of California. Much innovation was inside the city.

All of this innovation was due to a family called the Zinga's who were the descendants of the Jopiline founders. The founders had come from Celtic England and their ship had been tossed up in a storm that blew them all the way to what would later become apart of Mexico and then the United States. Originally, they had planned to go to Ireland for trading. The Zinga's were powerful billionaires who owned flamingoes and penguins as pets. They had literally bought a personal habitat for all of their pets.

 A shot rang out.
