No light was on in the room. Her mind flashed back to Piopold offering her a chance at reforming the Magicians. Could she do that? Did she want to help him reform the Magicians? Nathan seemed nice, but she knew that he wasn't a Rider. Sure, the world had millions of Riders and people with Rider blood and some of them weren't evil, but the Rider heritage was evil itself. How could she be a member of such a despicable creed? Conflict permeated Lainey.

She heard footsteps. She pulled at random wires, grabbed the memory-eraser, and scampered out the other way. Why hadn't she thought to place a fake where the original had been? When she got back to the room she'd been staying in, the covers hadn't been made up. Thankfully, nobody had noticed her not coming from her room. When she'd gotten back to her room the first time after she'd eaten the bite-sized sandwich, she'd gone to the restroom. She'd also brushed her teeth and used mouthwash.

She wanted to be in the world of light and hope again in the times when her mother would read books to her and Stella so she hadn't pulled out her ponytail. She pretended that her hair was brown and that it wasn't connected with the new-look she had made back when she was younger. The grass wasn't always greener on the other side. Now when she'd gotten back to her room with the memory-erasing device and her note she'd written; she was ready to use it on herself. What about the fans of her music? What about Casey and Fredrick? What about David, Nathan, and Grace? Erasing all her memories of magic would heal her. In the long run, erasing all her memories would hurt a lot of people. She breathed in deep. She had to do this for the greater good. She couldn't let herself be pushed back by doubts. All memories of magic being erased including the memory with the man in Vegas who sold potions would get Lainey out of this mess. Would the Magicians keep chasing her? What if this was a test of some kind? Lainey's hand shook when she pointed the memory-erasing device into her brain.

She didn't pull the trigger. If she erased her memories, would Magicians still be in some of her dreams regardless of what she did? Would Emerald always be in her head? It wouldn't change the fact that Emerald had somehow gotten into this mansion? Was he really here? It seemed like it. Lainey gazed out at the room. No. She had to get to Mars, no matter the cost. She would get into the company of the Lizard and his friends. The salt barriers would protect her from other Riders and she could wear a suit to prevent salt from getting in. In the note, she had said to herself that she needed to get an Anti-Salt suit because she didn't want salt to get into her eyes in space because she was 'allergic to salt.'

Outside, the time read 6:42. She still heard the vibrations from the tub far away. She was curious to know more about Chard, but Lainey had to get rid of the memories. Her body shook as she headed to the bathroom that was next to her room. She grabbed some hair dye out of her suitcase. She had it in case she needed it to mask her identity further from the Magicians. She put some blonde hair dye onto her hair. On Mars, she would give herself a new identity and she was starting that new identity now. Lainey Paris. She would turn into Britney Sadoloth on Mars. She would still have the same taste in music and style, but she would be a completely different person. When she was tinkering with the properties of the memory-erasing device while the dye was sitting in her hair, she found out that fake memories could be implanted.

How did Codebreaker have a device this powerful? Did he want her to have it? Her powers had been the key to opening the glass covering of the orange miracle gun that would solve all her problems. She stood up in the shower and she washed out some of the blonde hair dye. Suddenly, her head turned and she saw a reflection of herself with black skin and red eyes in the mirror waving back at her. A hood was over their head. They had armor on.

"If you do this, I will always find my way back to you. Don't deny yourself. You can't give yourself a fake identity. People need you here. Take a chance on me. To be brutally honest with you, I won't give you everything you need and I won't always be what you consider righteous. I am your Rider nature. You have friends and family. Erasing your memories wouldn't have prevented the incidents from occurring. If you want to get revenge on Pumpkin or justice, I offer you to join you. I'll always be a part of you. Nothing will seperate you from your heritage. Remember the events when you gave into me. We can team up. Keep me at bay. You need very little to keep me at bay," Lainey's Rider nature said.
