"Y/n, I have something for you." My dad looked at me with soft eyes. My eyes lit up.
"You do?!"
"Since you're turning ten today, I thought I'd give you something special." He pulled out a small black box out of his green jacket.
"Here you go, princess." He said sweetly, handing me the box.
My eyes lit up in excitement as I open it slowly.
I pull out a plain black...
Lighter?
I look at him in confusion.
"What's this for?" I examine the lighter.
"I know you're afraid of the dark, so whenever you're scared, light it and all the monsters in the dark will go away." He says sweetly.
"Do you know how to light it?" He asks, looking at me with his soft dark green eyes.
"Kinda?" I say, uncertain. I try to light it.
A flicker of light shines brightly, brightening the looks on our faces.
"Keep it. Know that I'll always love you."
