T is for Team Player
I hate arrogant people. I don't know if you can tell. That was the reason why I was so hesitant with you the first time. Good thing, you're not one of those, at least from my observation.
I want to say I admire that you are a team player. I admire that when you play, you play for the team, you play for the school, and not for personal recognition. I have seen others play like that and I think that is counterproductive in the quest for a championship. I also think it's very selfish.
I heard you're picked to be the captain for the next season. Congrats! This is by no means a disrespect to the present one because we both know that he is a legend. One that would forever be remembered by everyone.
I wonder what goes through your head while on court. Do you hear the screams of the crowd? Do you even focus at that? Do you get in a zone wherein the game is all that mattered? How's the adrenaline?
How do you also keep focused? How do you not fall to pressure? How do you keep your presence of mind?
Do you have a ritual before coming on court? (I think you already answered this somewhere. I can't remember.) Do you have a ritual after a game? Do you hear people when they shout your name? How is it like to be in front of thousands of people and have them watch your every move?
But I feel like we're ignoring the elephant in the room.
I just want to say, win or lose I'm here to support you and the team. Everyone saw how hard you guys fought. It's just that Ateneo really are veterans when it comes to their plays and chemistry. You have achieved history for your institution. There's nothing to be ashamed of.
Do you want me to send you Lemon Square from Mary Grace? Or do you want the grocery kind?
I hope that made you smile somehow.
You were great. Come back stronger next season. I know you will.
Atin 82.
Cheer up, Curls.
