"Isn't he just so incredible?" Tracey sighed dreamily. They had just had Defense Against the Dark Arts, and they had done absolutely nothing productive, but at least Tracey had gotten Slytherin ten points for knowing that Lockhart's favorite creature was the Bowtruckle when no one else did."No," Pansy and Millicent said at the same time.
"He's not all he's cracked up to be," Millicent said. "And he's really not that good looking."
"Oh come on, he's gorgeous, right Pansy?"
"I really don't see the appeal," Pansy said truthfully. Lockhart didn't fit her ideal man picture at all. Of course, her ideal man didn't really exist anymore. She had accepted the fact that she was trapped with Hermione, so she hadn't really been paying anyone any attention in the romantic way.
Tracey frowned. "Well, you have to admit that he's done some impressive things," she argued.
"Sure, if the books are true."
"Excuse me?"
Millicent rolled her eyes. "Did you see him when he released the pixies? He had no clue what he was doing."
Tracey huffed and took her place at the Slytherin table. Pansy and Millicent sat down next to her. DADA was their last class before dinner, and Pansy was pretty glad that the day was almost over. She was exhausted, and she didn't have very many classes with Hermione, so she had to have a water bottle with her at all times. She wondered how Luna and Ginny were doing. She hadn't heard from Luna since Ginny freaked out that first night. Rainey had been strangely silent too.
Hey, are you alright?
yes, sorry if you were worried. i have just been assisting darya with her human.
How is that going? I haven't heard from Luna recently.
ginevra is hesitant about making a decision. i am sure she will come to her senses soon.
I hope so. The girl didn't seem like she'd be able to live with the guilt of killing her friend. And how come they got to be friends? Hermione and I hated each other.
you and Hermione met in unfortunate circumstances, but everything worked out.
I guess so. Keep me updated, okay? Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.
i will. eat, you are exhausted.
You're telling me.
eat.
Pansy piled some steak strips on her plate and lightly salted them before digging in. Steak was one of her favorite foods.
"Hungry much?" Millicent asked.
Pansy nodded. "I skipped lunch, remember?"
"Oh yeah. Why'd you do that again?"
"I wasn't hungry."
"Well look where that got you."
"Shut up."
Pansy searched the Gryffindor table for Ginny. She found her sitting next to the twins, eating slowly and not really participating in conversation. Pansy shoved the last bit of steak in her mouth and stood up.
"I'm going to go talk with Ginny."
"Who?"
"Luna's mate."
"Oh, okay. Have fun."
Pansy made her way across the Great Hall and plopped down in the empty spot next to Ginny, who jumped.
