At this point, Ginny was in hysterics. She could barely breathe through all her sobbing, and she had thrown up at least twice. Pansy's friends were trying to calm her down, but Ginny wasn't even sure quite why she was panicking so much. Yes, Luna had lost her senses, made Ginny throw her in the Black Lake, and then swam away with Pansy without giving anyone an explanation, but there was no real danger, right? Surely something to do with the whole bonding thing would be letting her know if Luna was actually in danger.

"Ginny, please, calm down," one of the girls said. The one speaking had longer, darker brown hair. The one with short lighter hair was more quiet, but she was also more worried looking.

"They're going to die," Ginny gasped.

"No, they're not," the girl said. "Whatever this is, they have their mermaids to help them."

Ginny knew that what she was saying made sense, but it didn't seem to matter. Her head just kept telling her that something was very, very wrong.

"Ginny!"

Ginny looked up. Ron was running toward her. Hermione was running straight at the lake, and Harry was running after her. The Slytherins left Ginny to go catch Hermione as Ron reached them.

Ron fell to his knees next to Ginny. "Ginny, what the hell happened?"

"I don't know," Ginny cried. "Luna and I were swimming in our pool and then her eyes started pointing in different directions and she couldn't see me and she started blabbering about getting to the lake so I brought her here and then she and Pansy swam away and no one knows what's happening and they've been gone so long and - "

"Easy, breathe," Ron said. "Please, you need to breathe."

"I can't," Ginny whimpered. "I can't breathe."

Ron pulled Ginny into him and held her tight against him with her arms folded across her chest. The pressure helped her breathe a little, but she was still crying so much.

Hermione screamed, and Ron jolted so hard he let go. Ginny looked at Hermione in horror. Hermione was desperately trying to throw herself into the lake. It was taking both Slytherins and Harry to hold her back, and even still, they were losing.

"Oh my gods," Ginny choked.

Ron jumped to his feet and pulled Ginny up. "Go get a professor! I need to help them!"

"Okay, okay!"

Ron bolted to Hermione and Ginny forced herself to run away from the lake. The castle wasn't that far, but it was much farther than Ginny would have liked, especially in this situation. She could only go so fast. There were a few students outside that were staring at her, but she couldn't worry about them. She needed to get a professor.

Luckily for her, right as she ran inside the castle, she spotted Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick talking as they strolled past.

"Professors!" Ginny yelled.

They, as well as everyone else in the hall, turned to her. Seeing the very clear panic on her face, the two professors ran to her.

"What's going on, Miss Weasley?" Professor McGonagall asked.

"Pansy and Luna are dying!" Ginny cried. "They vanished into the Black Lake and Hermione's trying to drown herself!"

Professor McGonagall's face lost its color, as did Professor Flitwick's.

"I'll go get Dumbledore," Flitwick said. He hurried off in the other direction.

"I'll come with you," Professor McGonagall said to Ginny.
