Pansy woke up on Saturday morning early to go see Millicent before her first Quidditch practice. Millicent had made it on the team as a Beater, and she was pretty proud of herself. Of couse, Blaise was also on the team as the Seeker, so that was unfortunate, but even with his hatred for Pansy and all of her friends, his family had bought Millicent a new broom like the rest of the team. Millicent had been amazed at the quality of the broom. She hadn't had a bad one before, of course, and she kept her old one for sentimental reasons, but her new Nimbus Two Thousand and One was the highest quality broom currently sold to the public.

"Where are you going?" Hermione asked as Pansy was about to leave. Hermione rolled over and blinked at Pansy with sleepy eyes.

"I thought I might watch Millie's Quitdditch practice," Pansy said. "I'm so proud of her for making it on the team. It's really an honor."

"I'd imagine so," Hermione said. She sat up. "I need to get up, I guess. I'm supposed to go visit Hagrid with Ron, Harry, and Draco."

"That sounds dreadful," Pansy said.

Hermione rolled her eyes. "He's a perfectly nice man, Pansy. Well, have fun at Quidditch practice."

Pansy left the room and wandered down to the Slytherin Common Room, where Tracey was waiting for her.

"Millicent's already left," Tracey said, walking back the way Pansy had just come from. "She said that Flint seemed creepily eager to get to the field."

The thought sped the two up and they bumped into Hermione, Ron, and Harry by the castle doors.

"How did you get here so fast?" Pansy asked.

"I didn't exactly brush my hair," Hermione said. "I used that magic spray you have. Sorry."

"It's fine," Pansy said distractedly. "Where's Draco?"

"Quidditch practice," Ron said.

"Uh oh."

"What?"

Pansy and Tracey explained that the Slytherin team had just left for practice. The Gryffindors frowned and the whole group of them made their way down to the field, where the two teams seemed to be having a stand off.

"... sweeps the board with them," Flint was saying. He turned and saw the group running towards the two teams. "Oh look," he said, "a field invasion."

"What's going on?" Ron asked Draco. "And what's that git doing here?" he asked, looking at Blaise.

"I'm the new Seeker, Weasley," Blaise said smugly. "Everyone's just been admiring the new brooms my mother bought for the team."

Ron gaped. Pansy shoved Tracey hard when she noticed that Tracey was gaping too.

"Bought the team brooms, huh?" Hermione said meanly. "At least no one on the Gryffindor team had to buy their way onto the team. They got in on pure talent."

Blaise scowled. "No one asked your opinion, you filthy little mudblood."

"What the fuck?!" Pansy screamed, diving for Blaise, only to be held back by Millicent and Tracey. Draco and Ron were seething, and Ron pulled out his wand.

"You'll pay for that!" Ron yelled.

"Ron, no!" Harry warned, but it was too late. A shot of light had come out the wrong end of Ron's wand and hit him in the stomach, throwing him backwards onto the ground.
