He tags along with me to the bus stop. And stands next to me, fingertips on tablet. Swift and brisk movements in a matter of seconds.
A rush of steam, a puff of darkly scented gasoline, and the bus arrives. As I step up to the stairs, he wordlessly follows me, with his eyes still glued to the screen. I can see green and white flashes reflecting in his eyes. When we sit down and the bus pulls out again, I turn to him.
“Why are you following me?” A fake frown of irritation. Inside, I’m about to burst with curiosity, happiness, and a mess of all other feelings that I can’t quite distinguish at the moment.
“I don’t have anything to do. So I thought I’d just follow Senpai around.”
“Don’t you have work?”
“I’m off today~” Flick, flick.
What is he doing? I lean over and peer into the screen when he notices and tilts it my way.
It’s darkened to save battery, I can see, but not too dim. The inside of the bus is bright enough to see it well.
“See, look at this. I made this program.”
Dark shadows and red blipping dots move slowly on lines and fixed routes.
“What does it do?”
“It’s a tracking program.” A clear, clean response.
“Wha??”
