He launches himself at the tall young man before him, without warning.
Ichi is taller than him by a good inch or two. And faster.
He punches the air as Ichi sidesteps him and lands behind him.
Then a flash of movement. And one of Ichi's pockets vacates.
The clumsy one falls without a sound, the wind knocked out of him.
With that, his body loosens, his eyes rolling.
And I finally find my voice.
"Is he... dead?"
"No. Just probably out cold."
I sway on my knees, but am quickly saved by a strong arm.
"Whoops."
"Ichi..." My eyes start to dim.
"Oh, wow, wow. Don't pass out on me." A cool hand pats my cheek.
I inch my eyes open again and his face is right before mine. I don't even flinch. I don't even care.
I'm just glad that he's here. That he's here with me.
