Watching Nabi's reaction to my grandmother was priceless. She was in so much shock I almost felt bad for her. But hey, what can you do? She doesn't deserve to be a part of our family.
"Why was she here, Junior?" Grandmother snaps at me after Nabi had left.
I shrug. "Just wanted to hang out with my sister." I wanted to laugh at what I had just said.
She looks at me disapprovingly.
I put my hands up like she was pointing a gun at me. "Alright, alright. Grandpa just told me to stay close with her and find out why her mother left my father." I go back to my bed and aimlessly fall onto it. "And also I want her to see that she doesn't belong here. She thinks she can just stroll into our lives after being missing for so long." I tsk. "Yeah right."
Grandmother puts her hands in her face then slowly takes them out again. "Junior, she's not your sister."
"Yeah, I know." I agree. "Just because we're blood she thinks-"
"Junior!" She stamps her foot. "She is not blood. Your father and her father are not the same!"
"Wait, what?!" I sit up abruptly. I was freaking out.
Grandmother looked a lot more stressed than I was. She sits on the edge of my bed and looks me right in the eyes. "Listen carefully. When Choi Sun left your father, she wrote him a note explaining why she was leaving. I found it first and hid it from him."
I gulp. "Why would you do that?"
"Because, I'm your father's mother. Your father was young and reckless. I was not about to let him get his heart broken for the second time. It was bad enough the first time. He even left the country for a year!" She flung her hands up.
I had so many questions running through my mind but the only thing I could utter out was, "what did the letter say?"
Grandmother lets out a deep sigh before replying. "She left because she was pregnant but not with his baby." She lets out another deep breath. "Her father is Hong Jisoo. Your best friend's father."

I examined Joshua's face as he ate in front of me. The shape of his face was the only thing similar to Choi Nabi's. Everything else was different. You could never tell that they were siblings.
"Have you finally fallen in love with me too, Jun junior?" He asks smiling without looking at me.
"What?" I laugh.
"It's okay, you can confess." He put his chopsticks down and rests his chin in his palms. He then starts batting his eyelashes. "Who knows, I might just accept it."
I grab my spoon and hit him on the head. "Now I know why you've been rejecting girls this whole time. Do you have something to say to me?"
He chuckles then goes back to eating. "By the way, have you seen Nabi today?"
Her name brung a ping of guilt when he said it. I just realised I've been treating my best friend's sister like trash behind his back.
I shake my head no.
"Is she sick again?" He asks himself. "Hmm..."
He seems to care about her, I thought. Is it a sibling instinct? Or is there something else?

Today I was too upset to go to school. I couldn't face Junhui after what had happened at his house. It's too embarrassing. I wonder why our grandmother treated me the way she did. She seems to be fond of Junhui. So why doesn't she like me?
"And then what happened?" Auntie Aera looks at me worriedly.
"I just left." The tears wouldn't stop now. "Why doesn't she like me auntie? Did I do something wrong?"
Auntie presses her lips together into a thin line.
"Auntie..." I begged. "W-why... why doesn't she like me?" I couldn't help but feel heartbroken.
She moves closer to me and takes my hands into hers. "Nabi, honey... there's something you need to know."
I sniffle. "What is it?"
"Your real father," she pauses. "Y-your real father..." And then she finally let it out.
My heart dropped.

"Why do you want to see her so badly?" I raised an eyebrow at Joshua who was in my passenger seat.
He was looking out the window, at Choi Nabi's house. He shrugs. "I don't know. There's just something about her." He shakes his head. "I can't put my finger on it."
Should I tell him? Maybe I should...
He turns on his seat to face me, "I'll go and check on her quickly. Just to see if she's okay. Are you going to come?"
After what happened with my grandmother I'm sure she doesn't want to see me.
"Sure," I smile. "It won't hurt to see her."
But it will hurt her to see me, I chuckle to myself.
We got out of the car and headed for her door slowly.
Joshua knocks three times. "Do you think she's home?" He whispers.
I shrug.
Seconds later the door opens and out comes the small lady that works for the clan.
She looks up at as blankly.
Joshua smiles charmingly and asks, "is Nabi home?"
She looks from him to me and furrows her eyebrows. It's obvious she knows who I am. Her bosses grandson. She was hesitant but she let us in anyway.
Nabi was sitting on the couch reading a book.
"Hi," Joshua waves.
Nabi was startled to see uh. "Hi," she says shyly when her eyes land on me.
"Are you okay? Why didn't you come to school today?" Joshua joins her on the couch.
Nabi closes the book in her hand and just looks at Joshua strangely. "I'm fine. Just a little unwell."
"Were you too embarrassed to see me at school because of our grandmother?" I blurt out.
"Our?" Joshua tilts his head at me.
"Our..." Nabi says quietly.
I sit on the other side of Nabi and put a hand over her shoulder. "Joshua," I smile, "did you know Nabi here is my sister?"
Joshua's eyes widen. He was speechless.
Even though I now know the truth, I wanted to keep playing her. Torture her. Make her believe that I like her. For some reason I wanted to punish her.
Just like blood, anger runs through this family. Can you see me father? I'm just like you. Will you like me now that I'm the cold hearted person that you also are?
