Junhui

Nabi's words replayed in my head.

"You're not my brother."

"I've known all this time."

"You're not my brother."

"I've been playing along because I didn't want to hurt you."

"You're not my brother."

"I'm sorry, Junhui."

"You're not my brother."

I didn't know what to do. The hate I've ever felt toward her has somehow suddenly left and was replaced with some unexplainable emotion instead. I'd forgotten why I even wanted to lie to her in the first place. How am I going to face her now? Does she hate me? I tapped my fingers on the desk impatiently as I watch the door.

She'll be coming in at any second.

"You can break a heart with that stare," I hear someone say behind me.

Before I could turn, Joshua sits beside me on Nabi's chair.

"You feeling okay?" He asks. "Still hungover?" A cheeky grin forms on his lips.

I playfully push him. "Dude, thanks for driving me home."

"Dude," he imitates me. "Don't try to do something so stupid again."

I let out a chuckle. I guess Nabi hasn't told him the truth...

The class suddenly ooo's.

"What's everyone so dramatic-" I gulp.

Standing at the door was Choi Nabi. Instead of her usual white sneakers, she was wearing black heels with red bottoms. A plain black shirt was tucked into her black, school skirt with her white school top unbuttoned all the way down. Her slightly smirked lips were tainted red. She spots me and walks over while she runs her fingers through her slightly wavy hair which she always wore straight.

Everyone's stare follow her as she walks in, including mine.

"Hey," she waves.

I gulp. My throat was suddenly dry.

"You look different," Joshua states. "Did you do something to your face?"

Nabi pouts.

I'd never seen her pout like that.

"I'm kidding," Joshua chuckles as he stands. "You look nice." He then gestures for her to sit. "I'll get going now, I'll see you both at the talent show."

Nabi watches Joshua leave as I watch her. She catches me and raises her brows.

I think I blushed. "Are you going to sit?" I suddenly snapped.

"I guess." Did she gain attitude with her newly found confidence too?

"S-so the talent show..." I start. This was the first time I had felt awkward in her presence.

"Jaekyung backed out last minute and messaged all the girls in class to replace her," she says without looking at me.

I started to panic. I wasn't aware of this. I'm supposed to be in charge of keeping the show on track. "So who is then?"

She looks at me now with an expression on her face like I was supposed to know. "Me."

I was taken aback. Never would I have thought she'd be confident enough to do something like this. "So I'm guessing she's doing your job with the back stage thing?"
