Junhui

I woke up this morning and came to the conclusion that Nabi was in fact, a bitch. She is a liar, a manipulator, an impostor and worst of all, my best friend's sister. I have to admit, I have done just as bad as her in the past, but so what? I had a good reason to. And I still do. She is wreaking my family. But what's her reason for all of this? All she's doing is trying to take advantage of the situation and get all this wealth and power she never deserved.

Her mother was probably the same, she would never had gotten those genes from Josh's side. After all, she did cheat on my father then ran away to save herself.

I roll off of my sofa and yawned away the thought of the most horrible women that have ever existed and went about my routine before heading out for school. I had come back to my apartment last night right after our family dinner, and so did my mother.

After I had showered and dressed, I wake my mom up and bid my goodbyes.

"Take care of yourself Junior," she smiles sleepily.

"I always do!" I twirl my car keys around my pointer finger as if to wave then slammed the door shut behind me, not that I intended to, it was just a morning habit.

At school, the tension between Nabi and I was stronger than ever. I hated her, she hated me. It was obvious.

"Can you two quit it already?" Josh finally says, slamming down his chopsticks onto the table. "You haven't spoken to each other in a week, I can't take it, I'm going insane here!"

The evil witch sitting across from him continues to eat her stupid soup and ignores us as she types away on her phone.

He tries to look over at her screen. "Who are you texting?"

"Jeonghan," Nabi replies.

"Why?"

"Because."

"Because?"

"Nothing," she was starting to become like all the girls at the school too.

"You know he's like 5 tables behind you. Why don't you go sit with him?" I mock.

She snaps her head up and squints her eyes at me, "maybe I will." She stands abruptly, pushing her chair back.

Josh inhales once and stands up too. He then grabs my wrist, pulls me up and drags me away along with Nabi with his other hand.

"Dude, people are staring," I whispered as I try to pry his grip off. "Let go, Joshua!"

Josh doesn't stop until we were out of the cafeteria and into the closet we had last fought in. "Apologies."

"Yeah," Nabi looks at me, "apologies."

"Both of you," Josh says through gritted teeth. "Now damn it!" Anger was overflowing out of him. He was scarier than last time too.

The closet quietened then. Only the splashes of tiny drops of water coming down from the ceiling and into a half filled bucket could be heard.

I feel Nabi staring right as me like she could make my head explode with her mind or something. I stare back and snarled.

'What?' She mouths.

'I'll kill you.' I mouth back.

Her personality was officially uglier than her face. Not that she was pretty in the first place anyway.

Josh on the other hand starts to tap his foot. "I'm waiting. One of you just say it already."

And that's when I smiled. "Hey Josh, did you know your sister here joined the-"

"We're dating!" Nabi shouts as she intentionally steps on my toes.

"That hurt you stupid-"

She puts a hand over my mouth. It smells like noodles. "We had a fight. That's why were mad at each other," she laughs nervously.

Josh rolls his eyes and crosses his arms. "Nice joke, Nabi. Now tell me the truth."

I grab hold of Nabi's wrist and yanked her noodle smelling hand off my face. You wanna play? Let's play. "It's true, Josh. Your sister here fell for me." I tilt my head innocently and looked down at Nabi who looked like she wanted to gag for a second.

"Come on guys," Josh chuckles now, letting his arms drop.

"It's true!" Nabi says too excitedly. "See!" That's when she yanks my face down with her sweaty noodle smelling hands and kissed me with her noodle smelling mouth. She then pushed me away (overly hard) and wiped her lips with her arm.

Josh's mouth drops, just like mine.

"Anyway, gotta go. I joined the book club. That's what Junhui here was going to tell you." With that, she awkardly walks out of the closet as fast as she could.

I didn't know what to say, so I stayed silent.

"Bro." Josh was stunned.

"Bro," I say back. I look down at my hands. They were shaking. That bitch took my first kiss.

"No," he shakes his head. "I don't approve." He leaves the closet too.

I followed him out. "Wait what? Why not?" I was offended. How could he not approve of me? If anything I'm too good for his sister.

"You know why dude," he says bluntly. "Look, your family and mine don't mix well. Her existense alone had put her in danger once. It can't happen again. Sorry dude, don't take it personally."

How could I have not taken it personally? "You're afraid of my family aren't you?"

He stops and faces me. He opens his mouth to speak but he stops himself right away. He takes a deep breath and sighs out instead.

"Are you scared of me, Josh?" Asking that upset me. The thought of my best friend- my only friend- being afraid of who I had been born to be was painful to think about. "Do you really think I'd hurt you?"

Josh shakes his head, "no. I'm scared your family will hurt Nabi. Not me. I'm not scared of you Junhui. I know who you are. You're not a bad person when you're with me. You're someone that can be easily influenced by whoever you're around."

"That's not true," I defended.

"Yes it is. But it's okay. You can work on it, trust me," he takes a step towards me now and puts a hand on my shoulder. "Do you trust me?"

"More than anyone." It was true. Even my own family scared me at times. No matter how much my grandfather treasures his family, I know deep inside that he's able to kill just about anyone to stay in control. How else was his empire built so strong for so long?
