Junhui

I sit across my grandfather patiently trying to figure out what his 'surprise' for me was. What was so important that he had his best sniper himself pick me up from school and bring me here. I didn't feel safe at all to be completely honest. After all, the sniper is Nabi's uncle.

"Seungcheol, why don't you join us? Have a seat, son." My grandfather spoke politely to his men like always.

The sniper, who was standing by the door as if he was a guard turns slowly, gives both of us a closed smile, nods once, and sits on the other end of the couch I was on.

"Junior, you haven't been repoting back to me about Choi Nabi."

"Oh uh..." I was caught off guard. I had forgotten about my assignment to find information about the dissapearance of her mother. I know the whole truth now, but I didn't know why I coulnd't bring myself to say anything. I hate Choi Nabi. I hate her mother. So why... "It's in progress," I mutter.

Grandfather lights a cigar and smiles.

I look over at the sniper, he looked calm.

A few more moments pass before we hear a knock at the door and in comes Yoon Jeonghan. He looked too dressed up to be here right now.

"Where's your jacket, team leader?" I chuckle. It was well known around here that Jeonghan always forgot about his leather jacket. He even forgets to wear it on missions.

He didn't look amused. He simply just nods in my direction and then does a full bow at my grandfather. "She's here, master."

Who's here?

The sniper stands and straightens his jacket.

"Bring her in along with the twins." Grandfather puts out his cigar on his marble ash tray and stands too.

Automatically, I do the same.

Jeonghan exits the room then brings back 3 others with him. Mini Sniper Cheol, Seungjin and Choi Nabi.

I look at her wide eyed. What was grandfather doing? Did he find out that Nabi knows our family secret? Does he know Joshua knows our family secret? Is he... going to kill her? The endless posibilities with this situation had my heart racing. But what for? I'm so goddamned confused!

"Thank you Jeonghan, you're dismissed. Tell the rest of your team that I'll be sending you all extra bonuses for your mission today." Grandfather then gestures to me. "Sit with me Junior."

Jeonghan exits the room with a bow.

I do as I was told and join grandfather on the opposite couch.

Nabi wasn't hesitant and sat comfortably beside Cheol.

Seungjin sat beside her father a little too close and held his hand tight.

Seeing them all there was weird. I then wondered if they all hated us as much as I hated Nabi and her mother.

"Choi Nabi, it's good to finally meet you." Grandfather says cheefully.

Nabi simply smiles at him, avoiding all eye contact with me.

"You've met your cousins of course," he chuckles. "What about your uncle?"

Like it was rehearsed, both Choi Nabi and Choi Seungcheol both lean forward and look at each other.

"You look ex-exactly like her," the sniper choked on his words. He sounded upset.

"She does doesn't she?" Grandfather laughs. "I thought my eyes were playing around with me, I really thought she was Choi Sun for a minute there."

Nabi looks down at her fidgety fingers.

Grandfather was upsetting the whole family without knowing it. No matter how wise he was, his age was still catching up to his mind.

"So grandfather," I say. I gave him a look as if to say 'get on with it.' I was uncomfortable being in the Choi's presence.

He snaps his fingers, "right!" He stands and starts slowly walking around the room while he spoke. "Choi Nabi, I would like to offer you a spot on the clan."

What?! What could she possibly do for the Moon Mafia's?

"Though I never offer this position to people who have no problem living on their own, I'll make you an exception. Your mother is Choi Sun and your father is my son Junhui, is that correct?"

"That is correct," Nabi says confidently.

"I still have to clue why your mother ran away from us but I'm sure she had a good reason. She was a woman to be respected. She had done so much for my son and our clan." Grandfather halts behind me and says, "will you join us, Nabi?"

"I will, grandfather."

Tonight at dinner, grandmother and grandfather joined my father, mother and I. Grandfather was going to announce his news.

I could barely swallow my food without swallowing disgust with it. Disgust with myself. I wanted to rat Nabi out, I really do. But I also want to see how this whole thing plays out. What exactly was she planning? She knows full well who her real father is.

"It's so lovely to have you both here," mother smiles.

"It's our pleasure dear," grandmother replies. "I'm getting impatient though." She looks over at my grandfather at the head of the table.

Grandfather smiles as he puts down his cutlery. "Well," he starts. "As you all know in this family, we treasure, we protect and we help one another. It was brought to my attention that Choi Sun was pregnant with Junhui's baby before she left us and well the child is now 17 years old and very much alive."

The mention of Choi Sun had brought tension to the room.

"This child's blood contains ours and therfore must be one of us."

Mother's hand starts to shake.

Grandmother's face was full of anger.

Father, undoubfully, was over the moon. For the first time in a long time, he was smiling.

"I offered for her to stay here in this house but she had declined the offer and preffered to be with her uncle instead," grandfather continues. "With the help of the clan, she will be shaped into a fighter just like her mother."

"I refuse," father says now. "She won't be doing any fighting."

"She has to be able to protect herself, Junhui. Unlike you, she's willing."

Father sighs.

"You're really just going to take her word for it?" I blurt out. "How do you really know that she's one of us?"

"Would it make sense for her not to be?" Father snaps at me.

I gulp, "n-no sir." I was the only child, and yet I wasn't even the favourite.
