Junhui

"I have a bad feeling about tonight man, maybe we shouldn't go." Joshua was fidgeting in the passenger seat.

I came to a halt in front of Nabi's house.

She was looking out at us through her window. She gives us a smile and wave.

"It'll be fine," I answer, unbothered.

"What if Nabi gets hurt?"

"Why do you care?" I snapped.

He was taken aback.

I let out a sigh. "Look, I just want her to have a good time. We'll look out for her, won't we?"

"I guess."

I could care less whether or not she gets alcohol poisoning to be honest.

We hear Nabi's door closing and we watch her as she struggles to take the key out of the door.

I chuckle in my head at her stupidity.

"I like her." Joshua suddenly says. He looks away from her and turns his head to me. "I like your sister."

His statement made me want to throw up. "Bro," was all I say.

"I'm sorry," he pinches the bridge of his nose and closes his eyes shut. "I know it's wrong. She's your sister and I'm your best friend, but still man, I can't help it."

"That's gross." I uttered under my breath. "You can't date her."

Even if she really was my sister, Joshua, I would't let you stoop so low.

"I get it, it's fine." It was obvious he was disappointed. But letting my best friend go out with his own sister without him knowing is too evil, even for me.

"Treat her like your own sister," I said. "We are brother's at heart after all."

He nods. "You're right."

I check the time.

2:22 am

I didn't know how it came to it but I had lost both the people I came with. By now I was walking funny and could hardly see straight ahead of me. My vision was a bit of a blur, but I could make sense of everything. "Where's Joshua Hong? Have you seen him?" It felt like I asked that question to every person or group I stumbled into.

They all either said no or just joined me into their conversations.

I decide to explore upstairs, in the hopes of seeing him. I end up in another living room with another group of people.

There he was. Leaning against a wall in the corner. Intently watching Nabi sit on the couch, in the arms of Yoon Jeonghan. They were drinking and giggling into each other's ears.

I go over to my best friend and stood in front of him. "You alright bro?" I put both my hands on his shoulders for support. I really could not stand still.

He laughs gently. "Are you okay, Jun junior?" He takes one of my wrists and puts it over his shoulder. He then takes me over to the other sofa, across from Nabi and Jeonghan. "Sit down buddy."

I flop onto it carelessly.

Joshua sits beside me and goes back to gawking at the new couple. "You're not bothered that your sister is with him?"

I shake my head.

"Why not?"

I shrug.

He sighs. "You want some water?"

I nod.

"Alright, I'll be back." He pats my knee once then heads back downstairs.

I lean back onto the couch and rested my head so I was staring right up at the ceiling. I could've dozed off right then and there until I felt something drop onto my shoulder. I tilt my head sideways to look. I couldn't see her face since her hair was all over it, but it was Nabi.

"Are you drunk Junhui?" She asks softly.

"Yeah."

"Me too," she giggles.

I go back to staring up at the ceiling.

"Do you want to hear a secret?" She asks.

Not really, I wanted to say. But I kept quiet.

She takes her head off my shoulder and comes closer to my face. Her hot breath tickled my ear. "You're not my brother," she whispers.

My eyes widen. Suddenly I was sober. Very, very sober. I jolt up and faced her.

"I've known all this time." She was smiling but the rest of her face couldn't hide her disappointment. "I've just been playing along because I didn't want to hurt you."

Something inside me snapped.

"I'm sorry, Junhui," was the last thing she said before her head drops onto the sofa. She had fallen asleep.

So many questions were running through my head and yet I couldn't help but let out a relieved sigh. Up until now I didn't realise that I felt guilty. But now what? Does she know Joshua is her real brother? And if she did is she going to tell him? She doesn't seem to know that I know the truth. So I guess I'm off the hook at least. I wonder how Joshua is going to feel when or if he finds out.

"You alright fella?"

I look up at Jeonghan who is now standing in front of me.

"I guess you two are staying the night," he laughs. "Spare rooms are just down the hall. You can take one each."

I nod.

He then crouches down and starts nudging Nabi. "Wakey, wakey. Don't sleep like that you'll feel even worse in the morning."

Nabi doesn't move.

Jeonghan lets out a sigh. He gently takes one of Nabi's arms and puts it around his neck.

My mouth reacts before I could think about it. "What are you doing?"

"I'll carry her to the room," he says like it was obvious. "I'd let you do it but you can hardly walk bro." With one swift movement he hauls her up bridal style.

For some reason I didn't like it. I stand up and put a hand on his shoulder. "Put her down."

"Junhui, the room is literally right there. You don't need to get defensive."

"I said, put her down." I grab Nabi's hand and yanked her off his grip.

Before she could fall completely I catch her around the waist.

"We're gonna go home. Thanks for the invite."

"You're fucking drunk, bro!"

I ignore him and put Nabi on my shoulder. With every step I could feel her face bump into my lower back.

"Junhui!" Jeonghan yelled out.

I was still drunk and I knew it. I wouldn't be acting this way if I wasn't.
