Hope is Dead

Chapter ten

Jonathan grabbed as much water as he could and handed some to Jason who put it into his backpack and the workers Scarlet, Levi, and Peter, backed up there stuff from the back and Jason's mom, Abby grabbed food like chip's and other small snacks, they all planned on taking Abby's car to go to Jon's house to grab some things then go to the highway to get out of the city and look for some answers. Jon had giving Bear some water and Scarlet found their last bag of dog chow in the back so Bear got some food as well. Bear was currently watching the front door's making sure nothing was odd. All of them double checked everything before hearing Bear growl and stand up in a defensive pose.

Jon went over to the door and pealed some of the news paper away peeking outside seeing there were at least three zombie's walking outside, he put it down and looked around seeing umbrellas, he grabbed a couple seeing the ends were a bit sharp and went over to Levi who said he was good with weapons and handed it to him ''Aim for the head.'' he informed, Levi nodded and Jon went to Bear crouching down to her ''You stay with me alright?'' Bear looked at him stopping her growling and looked at him, Jon saw the look in her eye's and knew she understood his order.

Jon grabbed her leash and stood up going to the door with his umbrella and looked back at them seeing they were all ready, he then sighed pushing the door open but closed it as soon as he did seeing a large flashlight, he peeked out again seeing military vehicles, he saw one getting ready to shoot and his eye's widened seeing what kind of gun it was, he grabbed Bear and pushed her off to the side then ran over grabbing Jason as the bullet's broke threw the glass, he held Jason close covering his eye's and couldn't see everyone else. The shooting died down and he watched as the large flashlight moved past the station and herd the car roll away into the night turning to day.

Jon slowly moved his head and looked around and saw Abby dead five shot's to the chest and two to the head, Jason turned and his face broke Jonathan's heart, Jason got up while Bear went over to Jon and stopped looking at Jon's leg, Jon looked down seeing why. He was bleeding, seeing the wound made all the pain hit him like a train, he threw his head back and pulled his right leg up seeing the blood pooling around his light jeans making a dark patch on his calf. Jason fell to his knee's in front of his mother to shocked to cry.

Scarlet and Levi stood up and looked around noticing that Peter had been riddled with bullets as well, they walked over to him and could see there was no point in checking him, Scarlet looked over seeing Bear laying in Jonathan's lap almost sad like, she walked around seeing he was only shot in the calf and her heart calmed. She walked over taking her apron off and wrapped it around his wound ''Is there medical stuff at your house?'' Jon nodded ''Yeah.'' She then looked over to Levi looking down at Peter still ''Levi.'' she called and he looked over seeing he needed help walking so he walked over still looking back at Peter.

He helped Jon to his feet while Scarlet grabbed the leash and looked at Jason who was still on his knees beside his mother, Scarlet crouched down beside him and lightly touched his shoulder, he flinched a bit before relaxing again ''Bear needs someone to walk her.'' Jason turned slightly ''Me and Levi have to help Jonathan.'' Jason looked over to Jon seeing the apron around his calf slowly filling with blood, Jason then turned from his mom and took the leash from Scarlet standing up, Scarlet then went to Jon putting his other arm over her head and helped him out, Bear started walking but looked back feeling Jason wasn't moving.

Jason  stared at his mom, Bear pulled a bit then Jason looked at her and nodded walking her out meeting up with the other three, Jason didn't speak as they walked towards the car, Scarlet then felt around before looking back seeing Jason pull the keys out unlocking the car. They got Jonathan inside and Bear jumped in to be with Jon, Jason got in beside him handing the key's to Levi ''Where's your house?'' he asked starting the car. Jonathan told them the house number and that it was right across the road. Levi nodded and started driving to their destination, Jason looked at him ''Why did you save me?'' Jon looked back at him, seeing his big eyes that had no sign of crying ''You're a kid, you shouldn't die like that.'' Jason then looked down while Bear rested her head on his lap.
