Hope is Dead

Chapter twenty two

Brian shut the hood of Craig's car and shook his head looking at Craig who sighed putting his head back ''I'll join Brian in his car.'' Craig said knowing if Tyler did that there would be a fight, they got out and gathered all their stuff, Evan started up his truck again only to hear it rev up then stop, he tried it again getting the same thing ''You've gotta be kidding me.'' Brock looked at him ''What?" Evan tried it again before sighing ''It's dead.'' Luke leaned forward looking at the dash where Evan could see and sighed ''Perfect.'' Marcel unbuckled and pushed the door open getting out ''Wait why are you guy's getting out?'' Craig asked seeing all of them get out.

''Stopped working.'' he said and looked back at Brian who stopped ''Come on, you joking.'' he said turning to them, Evan shook his head and they looked at Brian's car, Lui opened the door looking at them ''What?" Brian looked at them then at his car ''How much gas left in the tank?'' Lui looked inside asking David that same question and he looked at the dash repeating the number to Lui ''Quarter tank.'' Brian sighed and looked at them ''Guess we're walking.'' they all groaned and got their thing's out starting their trek. 

They walked down the middle of the road not caring, Evan and Luke stood at the front, then Marcel, then Brian and Brock, Tyler and Craig and finally Lui and David, as they were walking down the road Brock looked to his right seeing a train track he smiled hopping the little fence beside them ''Brock where are you going?'' Brain asked making the three in front of them stop ''We lived by a train!'' he called back and went down the hill knowing the track was far from them, Brian hopped the small fence and they walked over seeing the two going into the woods on a small track, Lui sighed and hopped over ''Lui.'' he looked back at David ''What we can't just let them go.'' he said and went down the hill after the two, David followed then Marcel and soon all of them were following after them, Evan looked up seeing it was getting dark out and sighed going into the woods with them.

Brian caught up with Brock seeing he stopped at a camp site and they looked around at the empty camping area, the other's caught up and stopped as well, they looked around unsure of who this belonged to, Luke stepped into the camp and went to the dead fire before going over to the tents looking inside seeing it was empty then looked around looking at the ground seeing a set of foot prints, he walked over and crouched down feeling the different dirt's then looked back getting up ''It's been abandoned for a while now.'' he said looking around.

Evan looked around being able to tell the time of day and looked at the camping area ''We should stay here over night.'' Brock looked at him ''No, we have to get on those tracks.'' he said shaking almost ''Brock we aren't even sure if those are tracks leading to Ohio.'' Brock looked at Luke ''Yeah but all track's lead somewhere right? They have to lead to a station that could tell us which way to go.'' Luke paused hearing the logic in Brock's statement. The other's took seat's around the camping area and checked out the area around it and Luke sighed ''Yeah, we'll head there in the morning alright?'' Brock looked at Brian then at Evan seeing they were obviously on Luke's side, he then caved and nodded, Brian rubbed his back while the other two looked around as well.

It wasn't long before night hit making everything around them dark, Marcel got the fire started and turned looking at the guy's making sure the tent's were ready, Lui was giving everyone a can of food as they found in a cooler then they walked over to sit around the fire, Luke grabbed Marcel one and brought it over to him, they sat down beside each other and Luke gave him the can with a spoon, Lui was last to come over and he sat beside David. Time passed and David was done his can and got up walking over to their pile of stuff getting his guitar out of that said pile and walked over to them sitting next to Lui again. Craig held Tyler's hand while David started tuning the guitar, Evan sat on the other side of him while the other's sat in the circle around them. Lui liked this atmosphere, he felt like they were bonding more as a family then like friends.

David cleared his throat and strummed a couple time's before starting a song that had lyrics as well ''Your looks, could kill, the pain, I feel.'' Lui smiled hearing his voice and looking down listening ''Your thrill's are all I wanna gain.'' Evan smiled knowing this song, having practiced with David multiple time's over skype ''I've been hoping, and soul, searching.'' Luke looked at him playing the guitar not knowing much about this group, he wanted to know what everyone else could do.
