Venus Cavannaugh.

The party was in full swing, children running everywhere, an enthusiastic Marie moving up and down, hanging around with her friends in the enormous backyard foyer. Moms chatting excitedly and only few dads to be seen.

"Are you sure he promised to show up mum?". Marie asked worried about the unseen Ethan.

I smiled warmly and answered,
"Yes dear he said that he'll come, don't worry okay". I assured.

She grinned wildly and left to play with her friends while I put out various snacks on the table.

"Have you tried calling him yet? It seems like she's not going to let it go". Zara said unexpectedly from my side as she dropped the bowl of fruit lops.

"He said he'll come Zara so don't worry I trust him". I shunned all negative doubts immediately.

Deep down in the pit of stomach, I was nervously awaiting for his arrival not wanting to act like I'm desperate and reach for the phone to call him.

I went out to see other moms and to chat tirelessly to make time pass by.

I went to look at other confectioneries when I felt Zara's presence beside me and in a coy voice she said to me,

"He's here". She drew smiling knowingly. My heart lept out of my chest at the mention that he has arrived. Behind me, I could hear Marie shouting in excitement.

"Uncle Ethan!!".

I pretended not to notice his presence and continued with what I was doing. I turned and met his gaze solely on me with a little smile tugged on his lips. I turned to Zara's attention and saw her repeatedly raising her brows with her knowing look saying 'I told you so, go to him!'.

I looked away from her and entered into the kitchen smiling to myself happy that he came. I turned to see Ethan standing at the doorway looking as he followed behind me.

I left the table and ran into his embrace as he in turn wrapped his arms around my waist trapping me in his chest. I breathe in deep his musky natural scent.

"I thought that you weren't going to come, i was scared". I confessed sadly turning up to stare at him.

He smiled knowingly and kisses my cheek much to my surprise before leaning down into my neck placing a gentle peck causing my toes to curl in excitement.

He held me closely and willed me to look into his eyes which was filled with so much love.

"I promised and I'm here aren't i?". He said.
I pouted my lips with which he looked down at them in hunger.
I took his hand in mine and led him upstairs to my bedroom, silently I bolted the door behind us and I turned back to meet his gaze solely on me.

Taking little steps, I stood directly facing him at his front without fear or anxiousness. I took his face in my hands in pure love and stared deeply in his eyes and he stared back to me.

Unknowingly a tear fell from my eye, his gaze fell on it and he used his thumb to wipe it away.

"You're more beautiful everyday than I can reckon, I've never been more deeply in love with you than I am now Venus" He said with raw passion laced in his voice.

It felt like there was some kind of constriction in my throat desperately trying to force down the subtle tears threatening to fall. Instead I placed my forehead right on his and closed my eyes, letting the silence take over, just a few light laughs heard from the party below.

We parted after some moments and I knew that we shouldn't be up here anymore before guests start to ask where I am.

"We have to go Ethan, we can't stay here anymore. I've got a party to run". I chuckled lightly under my breath.

He smiled and breath out deeply. He took my hands and placed a light kiss on it making my heart flutter. We left the room and entered into the kitchen, I took out Marie's cake and lighted the candles on it.

We walked out into the backyard as I started to sing 'the happy birthday' song and all the children and adults present gathered around the cake smiling and singing along with me. Marie came forward and blew out the candles as everyone cheered for her.

"Happy Birthday Marie!!!". We all shouted together.

"Did you make a wish", I asked her.

She bashfully said yes and ran to meet her friends and I left to cut the cake. Zara was at my side helping to share the cake to the children.

"How's Ethan" she asked coyly.

"What do you mean?".

She sighed, "You know what I mean, I get that both of you are really close and I can understand that you have feelings for him. But don't forget that you are married and something's aren't meant to be".
She continued, "I just don't want you get hurt when Liam gets back and you should do something that isn't right for the sake of Marie and yourself, okay?". She concluded with a firm hand on my shoulder and then left.

I turned to meet Ethan's gaze on me, his face with worry. He mouthed 'are you okay?', I smiled and shook my head reassuringly. But he seemed unconvinced and came my way.

"Ethan...."

"No". He cut in. "I could tell that what Zara discussed is bothering you, just don't let it ruin your day, okay".

I nodded smiling at him and we both conversed before Zara came to join us.
"What are you guys talking about?" She asked curiously.

"I was just commending the efforts you guys put into the party". Ethan said. "You did a great job".

"Thanks". Zara and I said in unison. We turned and looked at each other.

"Do you guys do this often or?" Ethan asked jokingly.

"No!". We both replied at the same time.
We all laughed together and continued chatting as the party went on. Evening was approaching and some children started to leave, Marie was still bouncing about happily.

All of a sudden she shouted,
"Daddy!".

I turned immediately to see him exiting the cab, my heart was pounding furiously through my chest and everything dimmed,

"Liam".
