Ethan's Desire.

Five

Venus Cavannaugh

     Its been three days since i last saw Ethan and i'm itching to see him again, to feel him around me. His presence makes me feel safe and secure. If its attraction that i'm feeling towards him then God bless my soul.

Part of me has been urging me to call and ask for him from his department.

  Just then Zara came in to the living room and picked up her bag from the chair to leave for work,

  "I'm leaving take care and don't stress yourself too much alright" she asked concernedly.

"I'll be fine mom". I exaggerated amusingly.

She sighed deeply then kissed my fore head before leaving. Loneliness crept into my system as i witnessed how it felt quiet and lonely around the house, i wheeled myself to the front door then i bolted it and layed down on the sofa before darkness took over.

"Liam don't just leave like this". I cried out desperately in agony.

He turned slowly and gazed into my eyes,
  "Venus things will work out fine when we're apart from each other for a while". Just then his flight was called as he took his luggage and began to move to the queue of borders.

As if on instinct, i grabbed onto his left leg and began to cry profusely begging him not to leave me. He just pulled his leg away and started walking towards the departures leaving me on the airport floor.

  A banging noise just kept on ringing in my ear and a voice kept repeating this same sentence over and over,

"He's left,  He's left,  He's left,  He's left,  He's left,  He's left ".

   The banging just kept getting louder and louder as i latched unto my ears trying to shut them out desperately.

 

   I arose from my dream to listen to the persistent knocking at my door, i immediately got up and ran to the door unbolting and swinging it open to find Ethan standing before it.

  Immediately my heart began to drum heavily in my chest as i realised that I've been staring absently at him for some time now. I coughed slightly clearing my already parched throat,

  "Ethan what a pleasant surprise i wasn't expecting anyone. I'm sorry i didn't mean it its just that I'm alone and that Umm..". I rambled desperately trying not to make the situation more awkward. 

He chuckled lightly and held his hands out showing the pizza he held out which i didn't notice until now.

  Surprised by his kind gesture, i opened the door slightly letting him through the door. He entered and placed the pizza on the dining table.

  "I saw these and thought of you". He joked while staring at me.

I laughed at his cheesiness and thanked him for the food.
"Thank you i didn't know that Pizzas reminded you of me". I replied also amused.

"Well i was just thinking about how everyone would be busy right now and I didn't think you'd want to be alone so I ordered pizza and brought it for you to enjoy". He cleared quite seriously but still with a playful glint in his tone.

"I'm most greatful for the kind gesture to tell you i was pretty hungry maybe we could share?". I asked as he assisted me in bringing out plates for serving.

    I noticed from my peripheral vision that he kept moving closer to me, my heart began to race rapidly through my chest. I just grabbed the plates and went to the table and began to serve the Pizza. I handed him his plate and we began to eat in silence.

"I hope you don't mind me asking". He said suddenly bringing me out of my thoughts.

"No ask away".

"Where is Marie's father?". He asked abruptly without warning.

  I was unable to speak for a few moments. I just kept breathing harshly through my mouth trying to keep the fast approaching tears at bay. Memories flooded me just as one tear fell and another till it all came rushing out.

  I sobbed loudly trying to hold myself in front of Ethan who looked surprised to see my water works. Gently he wrapped his arms around my small figure. I latched unto his shirt tightly as he began to whisper apologies to me. He began to stroke my hair as i dug myself deeper into his broad chest to inhale more if his musky make scent.

Hmm he smells so good, I thought.

   I withdrew back slowly just in time to realise what I am doing at that moment.

"I'm so sorry I didn't mean to do that it was......". I trailed trying to come up with a reasonable excuse.

He smiled weakly,
"Its not your fault, I asked you the question. I didn't mean to, i'm sorry". He apologised  meekly. "Who was he?".

  The question he asked took me off guard as I realised that he thought that Liam was dead.

I laughed silently wiping away the remaining tears ,

"He's not dead". I answered.

"Oh" His brows rose at the truth.

"He's just away. Work stuff". Which was all I said concluding the subject.

"And he left you and Marie all alone". He questioned.

  I bit my lip not knowing whether to tell him the truth or not,
  "Its complicated right now so some time apart may clear everything up. All will be well when he gets back i hope".

"I would never leave you alone if I were your husband". He said seriously looking directly into my eyes.

  Everything froze and everywhere became silent as the air around us became thick. I bit my lower lip just as his gaze followed my lip unwavering.

He tore his eyes away from my lip just as he stood up and I followed suite.

"I have to leave i may be wanted back at the station". He said just as he cleared his thick throat.

"Yeah. okay. bye". I replied not wanting to meet his eyes.

"Bye". Which was all he said and he left closing the door behind him.

  I slumped against the wall adjusting myself thinking about what I've just gotten myself into. I could never cheat on my husband even though things are strained between us. But could i resist the building attraction i feel towards Ethan?
