Chapter Fifteen of A Prevailing Love

Cassidy was running like her life had depended on it and in this case it did depend on it tremendously. Behind her, an unfamiliar face was chasing her with hunting weapons which led her to conclude that this person was a hunter. He had already shot little bullets into her calf but she had ignored that pain so she could focus on getting away from the culprit behind her.

"Cassi!" his voice shouted and her heart nearly broke at how hurt his voice had sounded to her. She ran as fast as she could to get to him, to help him before she lost him. They were close to confessing their love for each other and accepting it. Neither of them could die.

She picked up speed if possible and as she felt she was closer to him, she had tripped over something causing her to fall to the ground. She groaned as she hopped back up to her feet only to feel something shove into her chest gripping her heart. Her breath hitched in her throat as her eyes trailed up to see what the hell had happened.

Her eyes locked with the piercing blue eyes of her love.

"D - D - " she tried but choked as she gripped his chest. He gripped her heart tighter then yanked it out as a singular tear fell down her cheek. She felt the desiccation process happen quickly before her body collapsed and she was on the ground.

The young brunette's eyes snapped open as she realized that the two thousand year old had been in her head seeing he had the same abilities as his brother. Though he was Silas's brother, he didn't look like Damon which seemed strange to Cassidy at first since her and Elena were sister doppelgängers but she realized maybe that didn't happen with everyone whom are doppelgängers to a relative.

She stared into his hazel eyes while he just gave her a creepy smile as he saw he hit a nerve with the little scenario he placed in her mind. Draken was having so much fun hurting the Petrova doppelgänger mentally and physically all because he wanted to resurrect someone with her blood because it was special.

She was trying to find it within her to break the stake out of her shoulder so she could run for the two thousand year old.

"So you know why I want your blood? You see Hannabella Petrova was not the first of your line of ancestors."

"Clearly, otherwise Silas wouldn't have died trying to have Amara brought back to life, meaning Amara has a lovely little sister. Excuse me, had since she's dead now," the younger of the two glared with a small smirk as she noticed the hurt flash through Draken's eyes at the mention of the deceased Amara.

"Yes, Annabella was her name."

"Tragic, I'm hurt that I didn't get the "Bella" portion for a name," she spoke weakly as she spit out some blood that travelled up her throat. She felt more metallic tasting liquid as she felt a horrible pain in her stomach. Draken had his hand held up as he muttered the Latin to make her insides melt with a heavy amount of acid. She choked as she felt a burning sensation rise in her throat.

"Nobody cares enough to wake Annabella when they woke Amara because all Silas was worried about was waking his love. To spend eternity with her while he left his best friend in the tomb to rot. He betrayed her because of her sister and now I'm going to do the right thing and awake her. After centuries and centuries of being trapped in a prison world my brother created for me, I finally escaped to a completely changed world. Amara who I loved is gone, my brother dead but Annabella was still in that tomb. I am to wake her so she knows that Silas betrayed her," he glared at the youngest doppelgänger more intently as blood dripped out of the corner of her lip as her eyes became heavy. She was on the verge of dying again.

"You - You're going to put her thr - through so much pain," the Gilbert choked out as blood splattered to the floor. Draken smiled at her as he dropped his hand and she immediately felt all of the pain go away. She took deep, heavy breaths as she continued to keep her eyes locked with his.
