"Stefan, what if it's not right? What if I'm making the wrong decision by doing this?"
Damon Salvatore had been in his baby brother's room all morning with a new feeling he had not been familiar with in a long, long time. It was the morning of the Christmas party, and also the morning of Damon's big plan he wanted to complete. He stood next to the light, burning fire staring down into it as he fiddled with the small, cube block in his hands.
"This is a side of Damon I haven't seen in a long time," Stefan took note as he stood from his desk to join his brother. He met eye contact with his brother's ice blue eyes, and that's when Stefan had seen just how nervous Damon had been.
"The worst she can say is no," Stefan stated the obvious behind his older brother's nervous habits. Damon gave his brother an annoyed look by the "Captain Obvious" humor he had.
"C'mon, Stefan ... this is a serious matter. What if she does say no because of Elena like when she suppressed all of her feelings and shut me out?"
"She won't shut you out — "
"— How do you know that?!" Damon began to raise his voice to his baby brother as the fear continued rising in his mind that what he wanted to do was going to be a big mistake. He felt he was rushing this whole thing, and that no matter what they had gone through, that maybe this wasn't the right time yet, but ... what if he never could find the right time again? Was he going to end up waiting another eight years to do something that he really wanted again?
It took him eight years to even admit his love for Cassidy.
"Because she has a great deal of love for you, Damon. She fell when she met the guy on her front porch that night, and has been falling extremely hard ever since. I have seen it grow more and more for so many years, Damon," Stefan had placed his hand on his brother's shoulder in a comforting manner. Being the best friend of his brother's girlfriend, he knew a lot about her and what she had gone through as she fell.
"I couldn't tell you how many nights full of crying I have comforted her, man. She really loves you ... you'll regret if you don't try and do this," he had given the eldest a small, side-ways smile before he gave two simple pats and turned away to leave the room.
Damon turned back to the fire as he began to get lost in his thoughts and memories once more.

Cassidy, Caroline, Avery and Bonnie had all been gathered in one of the many spare rooms in the Salvatore Boarding house with their dresses sprawled all over the bed, make-up all over the vanity, the faint smell of a burning curling iron and of course, gossip. Cassidy lifted her red long sleeve, ankle length dress off the bed as she gave it another glance as to whether she made the right choice or not. She had been completely unaware of the other girls trying to talk to her as she had gotten lost in her own thoughts (more than just the dress being on her mind of course).
"Earth to Cass," Bonnie waved her hand in front of her brunette friend's face. "Your dress is fine, will you please join the land of the living?"
Cassidy had accidentally given Bonnie a look of stupidity at her choice of words. She had shaken her head lightly as she placed the piece of clothing down then looked to her group of friends curiously.
"What is the topic of discussion, ladies?"
"Why Avery should not give Elijah Mikaelson another chance at her beautiful heart!" Caroline exclaimed angrily as Avery cowered away at the blond's aggressiveness on the situation. Cassidy raised a curious brow as she had wondered if Caroline's reasonings had been ... well ... reasonable.
