Tuesday was Josh's birthday so I snuck out of bed early to surprise him with breakfast in bed. I had bread in the toaster, some smoked salmon to put on top of that and eggs ready to poach.

I must have been deep in thought as I jumped with fright when his hands grabbed my hips from behind. I held onto the counter and laughed at the moment.

"Sorry. I thought you heard me." he apologised.

"It's ok, darling." I smiled and turned around to kiss him. "Happy Birthday."

"Whatcha doing?" he asked. "I woke up and you weren't there."

"I'm making you breakfast for your birthday." I told him. "Sit down. It'll be ready soon."

"What can I help with?" he asked.

"Nothing. Just stay looking cute." I told him, giving his cheeks a little pinch.

"It's too early." he grumbled. "I don't wanna go to work on my birthday."

While he sleepily grumbled I put breakfast together. He cooed with delight when I put the plate in front of him.

I pushed a little bag of presents across the table for him to unwrap while he ate. There were a few things to keep him warm while they filmed on the snowy slopes this week like heat pads and new gloves. Then there was socks.

"Did you knit these?" he asked, his eyes wide in wonder as he unwrapped a pair of bright blue knitted socks.

I nodded "We have a thing in my family. If you get socks from either me or my adorable Grandma it means you're part of the family. Knit with love just for you!"

"What an honour!" he gasped and clutched them to his chest like they were the most precious socks ever made. "They're my new favourite socks. Thank you so much!"

"You're adorable." I smiled. "Last present and then we need to get ready."

He opened a plain envelope and gasped. "We're going to see Phantom?" he grinned.

"With a backstage tour!" I grinned. "I pulled a few strings..."

"Shut up!" he exclaimed. "You're too cool! You're the best girlfriend. Thank you!"

He got up to give me a hug and a kiss.

"Now go for a shower." I told him, giving his bum a little pat.

While he was in the shower I got a cupcake out that I'd hidden in the fridge and put a candle in it. When I heard him get out the shower I gave him a moment to dry off a little before I lit the candle and headed in to see him.

He was drying his hair with a towel and looked over when I came in. He smiled that adorable grin when he saw the cake.

"So cute!" he beamed.

"Happy Birthday to you. Happy birthday, Mr Groban. For all the songs you've sung and hearts that you've won, we thank you. Happy Birthday tooo yooouuu!" I sang in the style of Marilyn Monroe.

"Woah! Where were you hiding that Marilyn impression?" he asked.

"I don't really get the occasion to sing Marilyn's happy birthday very much." I shrugged.

"Fantastic vibrato!" he grinned.

"Make a wish, handsome." I said in my Marilyn voice and winked.

"Should I eat this now?" he asked after he blew out the candle.

"If you want to." I shrugged. "Personally, I love cake in the morning. I'm going for a shower though."

I gave him a kiss as I handed over the cupcake then went for a shower. When I came back into the room I found him rummaging in his suitcase. It turned out a lot of it was Sweeney's bed and toys. I smiled to myself at how much he adored his furry best friend.
