Only a short chapter this time cos my tired and depressed brain isn't working so creatively. Charlie

I only had a few weeks left in New York and I spent most of them working. On my days off I moved my stuff into Josh's apartment and spent the little bit of spare time seeing friends. Most of my New York friends worked in theatre and the rest of them worked on The Good Cop.
For Josh's slightly belated birthday present I took him to see Phantom and we went backstage a few hours before the show so he could see some of the behind the scenes magic. He was grinning broadly with excitement as I lead him up the stairs to the make up and wigs department that I knew well.
"You look like a kid in a candy store." I told him. "It's adorable!"
"It's amazing!" he grinned.
"It's just a theatre, darling." I smiled.
I lead him to the familiar room where I used to work and we were greeted by a gaggle of my friends. There was hugs all round. Some of the girls whispered things about Josh to me like: "he's gorgeous" and "so glad you've found a good one."
I was glad I'd found a good one too!
We chatted for a bit and watched as some of the team started to make the lead actor up with prosthetics. I quickly popped to the toilet before the stage manager would come to collect us for our tour of the theatre. When I got back Josh was holding the Phantom's mask with trembling hands.
"Are you having a nerdgasum?" I asked quietly.
He nodded and made a choked noise that made me laugh.
We soon started our tour and I couldn't stop smiling at his expression. He was filled with wonder and delight. I think if I hadn't been holding onto his trembling hand he could have forgotten I was there.
All to soon though our tour had to end as they needed to set stuff up and we would be in the way. When we were having dinner before the show I noticed Josh's smile start to fade a little.
"You alright, pet?" I asked.
"That was so amazing and I was so excited but now my brain's gone a bit..." he sighed.
"You're emotionally exhausted, aren't you?" I smiled softly and gave his hand a little pat. "It's ok. We can go home if you want, have a little lie down and a cuddle."
"No! We're staying!" he shook his head adamantly. "I'm not missing my favourite show with my favourite person."
"I'm your favourite person?" I squeaked. "But I thought Chris is!"
"Well, don't tell him!" he laughed.
The surprise for Josh kept on getting better as we got to the theatre and he realised we were going to be in one of the theatre's boxes tonight. He was still grinning from ear to ear. As we sat he took my hand and kissed it.
During the show I snuck a few glances at him and saw him enraptured by the show. I don't think he even noticed me watching him.
We kissed in the taxi home as he thanked me repeatedly but as soon as he got into bed he was fast asleep. I giggled at his snoring as I climbed in next to him and cuddled up to him.
