As soon as I got home to my little apartment I started to get ready for our date. I didn't want to be rushing around and getting flustered but I also didn't want to run late. After I'd text Josh my address I asked him where we were going for dinner so that I could dress accordingly. He replied that I wasn't allowed to know exactly as he wanted it to be a surprise. It was near Time's Square, fairly smart but not formal so smart casual clothes would do.
After a shower I put on a dark green velvet dress and black tights. I was almost finished putting on my make up when I got a text from Josh telling me he was nearly there and he was excited. I replied with a grinning emoji. I put on my lipstick then rummaged for a good pair of boots.
I was still rummaging when my intercom buzzed. I ran over to the door and answered it.
"Hello beautiful!" Josh's lovely voice chimed.
"Come on up, lovely. I'm almost ready." I replied, pressing the button to open the downstairs door.
I looked around vaguely for my other boot while I waited for the knock on the door. As soon he knocked on the door I flung it open to find Josh looking very handsome. His curly hair flopped over his forehead and his big brown eyes twinkled. We looked each other over for a second before we hugged and kissed on the cheek.
"These are for you." He said, holding out a bunch of pink roses.
"Wow! Thank you!" I said. "While I put these in water quickly can you have a look for this boot's friend. I promise I'm not always like this. My shoes and boots usually stay together."
He laughed as I handed him a single silver sparkly boot. I'd barely put water in a ceramic vase when he stepped into the kitchen holding them both.
"Found. Sit down Cinderella, we'll see if the shoe fits." he smirked.
I put the flowers in the vase on the counter then held onto his shoulders gently to steady myself as he bent down to help me put my boots on my feet. I blushed slightly as his hand gently ran up my calf.
"Thank you Prince Charming." I smiled as he stood up. "You look seriously gorgeous by the way."
He blushed. "Not as amazing as you look." His hand feather lightly grazed my cheek then slid his fingers into my hair.
I only had a second to think how close we were before he kissed me gingerly on the lips. I squeezed handfuls of his soft knit sweater as my arms went around his waist and I kissed him back. Was everything supposed to tingle from just a kiss? He kissed me once more, firmer this time before he pulled back slightly, gently pressing our foreheads and noses together.
"Was that a bit too much?" he asked.
"Never." I whispered.
"You have no idea how long and how much I've been wanting to kiss you." he admitted.
"How long?" I asked, pulling back slightly more to look into his eyes.
"Since we met." he said shyly. "Is that creepy? I can't explain it. I could just tell it was the start of something amazing."
I gave his cheek a little stroke and kissed him again. "Every time you squeaked at the word Phantom it tickled my nerd brain." I admitted.
He laughed. "God, I'm such a dork!" he groaned. His phone beeped. We both jumped a little. "Oh, that's probably our driver. I left him waiting outside."
We held hands in the taxi and couldn't stop grinning. I felt ridiculously giddy with excitement. We leant in to kiss but our glasses collided before our lips could. We both laughed and tried again at a different angle to much more success.
