The morning of my flight I woke up to something tickling my hand and wrist. I didn't open my eyes, I just swatted blindly.
"Ow! Right in the eye!" Josh's voice groaned.
I rolled onto my side and peeped a sleepy eye open to see Josh rubbing his poked eye.
"Sorry." I mumbled. "What were you doing?"
"I was trying to be romantic and wake you with a kiss." he replied.
"Too early for romance." I groaned. "And my mouth is disgusting."
"I dunno. Your morning breath isn't so bad." he shrugged.
I looked over my shoulder at him as I sat up to get a drink of water. "Are you quite alright? You've seen the way I sleep, right?" I laughed and flopped back into bed to imitate my sleeping.
"So sexy!" he laughed.
We cuddled and kissed, feeling all fuzzy and warm, until the alarm went off on my phone. We both made angry noises at the interruption.
"Ugh! I don't wanna go!" I grumbled and switched off the alarm. "Luckily though I set it early so we can have ten more minutes of this."
"I like your thinking." He smirked and took my phone to turn the alarm off.
An hour and many kisses later we were in a taxi on the way to the airport. I was having trouble keeping my hands to myself. I would at least spend the rest of the journey taking in every detail of his handsome face.
"What are you looking at me like that for?" he asked.
"I'm just looking at you." I replied. "Just making sure I know your gorgeous face."
"Oh, this face isn't gorgeous!" he laughed. "You however..."
"That was cheesy!" I laughed as he leant over for a kiss. "And I love your cheesiness. I'll miss that. How am I going to manage 3 months without your jokes?"
"I'm going to make sure I have have time off every few weeks to see you." he told me. "I decided earlier I'm going to make time for us some how and somewhere. The great thing about writing songs is that you can do it anywhere in the world. Maybe a weekend in the city of love with the woman I love is just the inspiration I need."
"Oo, I'm defiantly on for that!" I grinned.
When we got to the airport we were both reluctant to say goodbye but knew it had to happen at some point.
"I'll wait with you for check in." he said.
I didn't object. Normally I would cos I was a grown woman and could check in by myself but now I could feel the heaviness trying to creep into my chest and only he could keep that away.
"I'll walk you to the security thing." he said.
We walked the rest of the way in silence but holding hands tightly.
"Are you going to wait for the plane with me now?" I asked, trying to be funny but my voice wobbled.
"Don't tempt me." he sniffed.
"You've got a job." I pointed out.
"So do you. What a job!" he smiled weakly. "I wish I could go with you and be the Marius to your... well, you're not really Cosette but Eponine doesn't really have a happy ending."
I laughed a little. "I'd take a bullet for you Monsieur." I told him and kissed his cheek. "You big nerd."
"Go through security before I start crying." he said.
We kissed a few times, I went to leave and then decided to sneak just one more kiss. This time I stepped back to see he was crying.
"I'm not allowed to cry. I'm British." I told him, voice wobbling and tears already escaping.
"Whatever!" he laughed. "Now go. I love you."
"I love you more." I told him.
"Go away." he chuckled and gave my bottom a little pat to get me to move.
I cried sporadically until I boarded my flight, by which time I was exhausted. I managed to sleep a fair bit on the flight.
