Sorry for the long gap. I've had serious writer's block.
... ....The three of us went out for a little evening walk to get some food and see New York in the dark. Sweeney was tired and we couldn't get the dog sitter at short notice so we left him with the doorman.
We got the busy subway to Times Square. We only stayed in the crowd and the bright lights for a short time. We took a selfie like tourists and then headed off into a slightly quieter street.
We got hot dogs from a cart and walked a bit to Bryant Park so we could sit and people watch. I was in the middle and feeling very cosy as I was sandwiched between two big coats.
"Oh, watch out for that." my brother told me.
I looked down to see what he was pointing at only to be hit in the face with my hot dog as he pushed it up into my face.
"Hey!" I whined. "That's not very nice!"
"I'm not supposed to be nice. I'm your big brother." he smirked.
"Do you do this to Chris or it just my brother who's an arsehole?" I asked Josh as I wiped ketchup off my nose.
Both men laughed.
"I plead the fifth!" Josh laughed.
"Damn you men!" I grumbled.
It was getting cold so we headed back home to Sweeney and the warmth. Sweeney laid across Josh's lap on the sofa and wagged his tail with such happiness you'd think they'd been apart for days.
"I think he loves you." I pointed out and gave Sweeney a little head scratch.
"Ya think?" Josh smiled. "Good thing I love him too."
My brother went to bed soon after we got back but not before giving me a big, almost crushing hug, that lifted me off the floor. I watched him head off to his room with a smile. Sweeney took himself off to his bed in the corner, leaving us on the sofa. We kissed for a while but I was so cosy and happy that I could easily have gone to sleep there on the sofa.
"Don't drool on me." Josh smirked as I snuggled up with my head on his chest.
"I'm not going to sleep." I sighed.
He gave a little laugh and flicked through the tv channels. Sure enough, I had a little sleep. I woke up to him laughing at something.
"Sorry." he apologised. "Should we go to bed? It's been a busy week. We're both tired."
"Yeah. Proper sleeps is good." I nodded.
He went over to kiss Sweeney goodnight while I sat up and stretched. My back clicked nicely as I stretched.
"I can hear that! What was that?" he laughed and held his hands out to help me up.
"That was my back cracking like a glow stick." I smiled.
"You're funny." he smiled. "That's why I love you."
"That's why I love you too!" I beamed. "My legs have gone to sleep. It feels weird." I groaned.
"Let me help you there." he said and scooped me up like a bride.
I squeaked a little with giggles as he carried me to the bedroom. "You sure you can manage?" I asked.
"Yeah! I'm fine!" he huffed.
"Are you sure?" I asked.
As he put me on the bed he lost his balance a little and nearly fell on top of me. We both giggled a little.
