Don't worry. I didn't forget anything.

I collapsed on my bed. I've been so tired lately, but I think I know why. I'm not in control. Actually, no.

Let me rephrase that.

I'm in control. I've just been using it too much. I know this because it's happened multiple times before. I've learned how to avoid it, but with everything that's happening, this was inevitable.

I just lay there and let my mind roam. Tomorrow is another "checkpoint". It's really an update report, but I like to call the checkpoints for some reason. I'm not looking forward to it. Not because I don't have anything to report, but I just don't want to give one. We also have training and I'm not even in the mood for that. I can never catch a break.

And then there's her. She has always been on my mind ever since I first met her. And I'm not even mad. She makes me happy and I don't think I've been that way for a while...

But I'm just waiting for the day she finds out. Whether I tell her or she finds out herself. Either way, I'll lose her trust and, worse, I'll lose her...

I finally fall asleep.

...

I gain conscious as I wake up but I don't open my eyes. I woke up naturally, I didn't hear my alarm, and I had a vision of a lake in the middle of nowhere. I don't call them dreams anymore because they're not. I hear the water lapping and I internally roll my eyes.

I open my eyes and sit up in my bed. I'm greeted with a nice green field and I turned to see a nice lake with the sun rising. "Shit," I said to myself, even though the scene in front of me was gorgeous. "Where even am I?"

I sigh and stand up to stretch. It nice and warm and that's how I know I'm not in Georgia. I'm going to be late but I honestly don't care. I already have to get my bed back and that takes a lot of energy. But it's quiet and relaxing here.

Maybe I'll come back one day.

...

I took a nap when I got back. Yes, I have teleported larger and heavier things at varying distances before but it's still very exhausting. But I do need to get up and leave. I had to put my phone on silent because Maya was blowing it up.

I rolled out of bed and started to get ready. I started to plan the day in my mind. After everything, I was planning on meeting Scarlet and the group at the cafe after they get out of school. Hopefully, I wouldn't have a headache then. I walked out the door and made my way down the street.

...

I opened the door to Alex's office and Maya was standing there, juggling multiple objects from his desk using her telekinesis. She's lucky he's not here right now. "Where the hell were you," she asked me as everything stayed suspended in the air. "Good morning to you too," I said sarcastically and she started walking up to me.

"You're late. I was trying to be a nice person but you don't answer your phone so I can't really do anything about that," she said. "Oh, I answer my phone. I just saw that it was you calling," I said and with that, I saw the stapler came flying at my head. I moved behind her and she quickly turned to see me with a smirk on my face. "No matter how hard you try, you'll never hit me. It's called teleportation." She just glared at me.

The door swung open and everything went back on the desk as it was before. "Good morning guys," Alex said as he made his way to his seat. "Good morning Alex," we said in unison. He sat there and smiled at us. "So, how's Project MJ doing today?"

I felt Maya eye me down. "Slacking," she said. "Snappy," I shot back. "He was late today. Later than any other day he doesn't show up on time," she said and I just rolled my eyes. "Maya, don't you think I know that? It's not like I don't have trackers on you guys. He's excused," he said. She looked defeated and it was the best thing I've seen all morning. I tried so hard not to laugh.

"But, speaking of," Alex started and I started to focus, "How was Africa?" The question caught me off guard. "What," I asked. "Your little trip this morning. Lake Manyeke. Located in Zambia, Africa. It must have been beautiful," he said. So that's where that was. These trackers are so annoying...

"Um yeah, it was nice until I had to take my bed back home. I thought I was going to be there for a while," I said, and he chuckled. "It means you're getting stronger. Keep working on it." That made me smile on the inside but of course, I couldn't show that.

"But enough of that, give me your update report on Project Element," he said, changing his whole tone. "Elements have improved on containing their elemental abilities. They have also gotten stronger and I've introduced all of them to close and armed combat using said abilities," Maya immediately said. It's like she rehearsed it before she actually had to tell him.

He turned to me after she was done and that's how I knew it was my turn. I quickly gather what I was going to say and started to talk. "The outside activity of the Elements are not at a suspicious level to the point where we have to take action. They are doing their own thing. But nothing new," I said, still going through all the mental notes I took.

"Are they all wearing their bracelets like they're supposed to," Alex asked.
"Yes."
"No."
Maya looked towards me. "Kira doesn't," I shrugged. "Of course she doesn't, that little... I swear she only does it to piss me off," she said, and she could be right. But there's probably something else. We shouldn't assume. "Well make sure she does Maya. But I have one more thing before you're dismissed," Alex said, sitting up in his chair.

"I've decided that I'm going to add to Project MJ. Don't worry, the name won't change but this will be the only thing that would," he said. "What!?" We were both shocked. First of all, what is he going to add and why? Second of all, freaking who is he going to add? This is the most random thing I've heard come out of his mouth. "You guys are smart. You'll figure it out," he said, basically reading my mind. Then a smirk formed on his face. "You're dismissed. No further questions."

We stood there in shock. Alex saw we weren't moving anytime soon and shooed us away. Maya marched past me and we left. "So what was that about," I ask her like she knows what's going on. "How am I supposed to know? I want to get through the day first before I think about it," she said, walking off to start her training. I should probably do the same. I already have too much on my mind.

...

It is now four o'clock and I'm about to leave. I need to go on a nice and quiet walk. I open the door but Maya stops me. "Where are you going," she asked and I turned to face her. "Out. Why would you want to know?"
"I bet you're going to go see Scarlet," she said and I just closed the door. Clearly, I'm not leave in the next couple of seconds.

"What if I was? Isn't that what I'm supposed to be doing? How can you call me out for slacking when you're the one stopping me from doing my mission," I said to her. She put her hands up in surrender. "All I'm saying is you don't have to go see her every day. You just needed to get close to the group."

"What if I wanted to see her every day," I asked and she raised an eyebrow at me. She wasn't supposed to know that...
I think quickly and roll my eyes. "It's a good thing to be consistent. And the more I'm there, the more information I can get. So let me do my job my way," I said and I felt guilty when I did. "Whatever." She walked away and I left.

I don't want this to be a mission...

Scarlet deserves better...
