The weekend went by too quickly for my liking. Don't get me wrong, I had a great time hanging out and stuff. But I also didn't get much sleep...

As I am now. We all agreed to go to bed early tonight since we have to get up early for them to pick us up. They'll be ready at one.

It's almost twelve...

My mind won't settle down enough for me to sleep. I've felt like this before. In the beginning when this first started. It was much worse then. But, I also didn't have the comfort of my friends at the time. We barely knew each other. I don't want to say that it's trauma, but I'm pretty sure other normal people consider it trauma.

I closed my eyes. I didn't bother to look at my phone to see how much time I had left. For all I know, the alarm could be going off any second. I kinda just sat there. Alone with my thoughts, which is not ok, but that somehow made me drift off.

...

We were standing at the island in the kitchen, eating breakfast quietly. We haven't said much yet, it usually takes a while for us to wake up. Yet we get up early to walk to school every day. We're weird if you haven't noticed...

I don't know how long this "session" is going to be. Usually, they last about two hours. That sounds like a lot but time goes by quickly for us. We are basically their guinea pigs or lab rats. Whatever you want to call them. But we are always testing something. And they are not your normal tests either.

But we're usually back in time to walk to school. If not, they drop us off. They'll tell us if that's the case beforehand.

The sight of a hand interrupts my train of thought. "Hey. You ok? You've been looking down for a while," Scarlet says. "Yeah, I'm fine," I said, giving a slight smile, "are we about to go?"
"I guess. It's almost one and we have quite a walk. Especially since it's snowing," Max said. I heard a hint of sarcasm in his voice because let's be honest. It never snows down here. And if it does, then there's probably only an inch that stays there for about a day and that's it. It isn't even nice, soft snow after a couple of hours. It always freezes up and gets hard so you can't do anything with it.
I could honestly talk about this all day but we kinda have something else to deal with...

"Hey, at least it is," I said, making my way to the window, "I wonder if they're going to cancel school." I suddenly hear a burst of laughter from the kitchen. "Kira, that's hilarious. You're funny," Max said, still laughing. "I hope not. We would have to work from home," Scarlet says as she walks over.  Just as I was about to react in disgust, I felt my phone go off in my pocket. I took it out and saw the email notification. I didn't have to read any further.

"We don't have school today," I practically yelled. I heard Max go silent. "FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! GOD FUCKING DAMN IT! SON OF AHHHHHHHHHHHHH-WHYYYYYYYYYYYY! FUCKING WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!"
Scarlet and I kinda just stood there. "We should probably go check on him," I said quietly.

We see him laying on the floor when we walk in. "Can you fall out later? We have to go," Scarlet said and I couldn't help but laugh. "Why are they even up this early," he said, allowing his voice to trail off.  I shrugged and headed for the door. "Last one there's paying for breakfast," I said, opening the door. "We're getting breakfast," Scarlet asked. "Might as well. We don't have to go to school today," I said, I sound excited, but deep down I'm screaming. We left the warm house, leaving Max behind.

...

We've been standing here for almost ten minutes now. It's cold. They honestly should be here by now. We're in an abandoned courtyard. We always met here but we hate this place. It brings back memories. But, on the other hand, the snow kinda settles our nerves.

We were just talking about our plans for the day when three cars pull up, which was weird because if this is them, why would they have three cars? There was always just one. A man steps out of the first one.

"S in the front, M behind her, and K in the back," He said. He was so monotone yet stern at the same time. "Good luck guys," Scarlet said, walking towards her car. "You too," I said and then we split up.

When I got in the car, it was silent. There were two people in the front, one clearly being the driver and another person. Both of them wrapped up in their winter attire. Even in the dark, I could see my breath inside.

"It would be smart to turn the heat on," I said sarcastically, but it was quiet enough that they shouldn't have heard me. Silence.

"You are a feisty one aren't you," I finally heard the other person say. A girl actually. I was already upset. I'm getting tired of this mentally and physically.

And just as that thought crossed my mind, I could smell it. It's faint, but it's still there. How didn't I know about it before, I don't know but something's off.

I felt my heart speed up. "What are you doing," I said as I started to move to the door. It suddenly locked.

"Don't worry sweetie." The girl turned around in her set and removed the mask off of her face.

"All will come in time." And then SHE freaking winked at me!

A wave of emotion hit me and I could've launched at her, but I blacked out.
