Beep! Beep! Beep! I reached out to turn my alarm clock off; jeez it was way too early. I tried to get up, I really did, but it was just one of those mornings.
I put my head back onto my pillow and fell asleep again. "HOLLY!" someone shouted from behind the door. "HOLLY, COME ON!" I groaned and turned to check the time. I began cursing under my breath I was already five minutes late for school, I wasn't ready and it took five minutes to get to school. Plus I was supposed to go for a run this morning, now I'm going to feel guilty if I eat like a starving hippo.
Kyle stormed into the room obviously frustrated. But when he noticed that I was still in bed, hell broke loose. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IN BED?" he shouted. I jumped out of bed and searched my cupboards for something to wear. I grabbed a pair of jeans and a red top and ushered Kyle out of my room. I slipped out of my pyjamas, which I noticed where very small, and into my clothes.
I looked myself in the mirror and realized I had a bad case of bed head, I tamed it as best I could and grabbed my concealer before hopping out of the room while trying to put my shoes on. I sprinted to the car which Kyle already had running. And we sped off down the road.
Kyle was a nerd and a goody-goody, and as much as I loved him it was true. He was probably furious that I had made him late.
I turned around noticing Joel wasn't here. "Where's Joel?" I asked.
"He had football training this morning, Lucas picked him up." he grumbled.
He was staring straight ahead, and I knew he didn't require that much concentration to drive. "Kyle I'm sorry for making you late".
"Why were you still asleep?" He turned to me this time raising an eyebrow.
"I fell asleep again after my alarm went off".
He laughed. Few he wasn't planning on giving me the silent treatment. Kyle noticed how relived I was. "I don't need to punish you, your punishing yourself enough. You look like you have just risen from the dead and walked out of the cemetery" he laughed again.
I glared at him.
We ran into school half an hour late. Kyle hurried off to his first lesson, while I made my way to the toilets. I was already late; an extra five minutes wouldn't hurt.
I looked at myself in the mirror and I understood why I looked like a fresh Zombie. I had bags under my eyes, and dried dribble around my face- God I must have been tired. I sometimes get nightmares of the crash. I thought I was getting over them, until they kept me up last night. They are always the same, the moment just before everything goes black. I washed my face and applied concealer under my eyes so I looked slightly more decent. By the time I left the toilets I looked much less like a zombie and was now forty minutes late.
On my way to class I noticed someone sat against the lockers with their head in their hands. As I got closer I realised it was Cory. I was tempted to walk away and just go to class- I wasn't exactly Cory's favourite person in the world, but I remembered Stella mentioning the break up with his boyfriend. Although I've had boyfriends they've never been serious enough for me to have been too upset when we broke up, but from what I've heard it hurts.
"Cory." I whispered.
He looked up and I gasped at his tear streaked face. I honestly have never seen a boy over twelve cry. Never. Excluding actors in movies. I rushed over and sat down next to him. I expected him to tell me to go away, I knew he didn't like me, but instead he put his head on my lap. I was too surprised to do anything so I just sat there and let him cry on me.
After about five minutes of him crying he sat up and looked at me. "Holly, what do I do?" He sobbed.
I wasn't quite sure what he was talking about, so I risked it and asked, "About what?"
