I honestly don’t know what is worse than Monday mornings. I think I hate them even more than the elevators, which is crazy because they scare the hell out of me. Just imagine being stuck in an elevator dying slowly and painfully where no-one can help you, or being dropped in an elevator falling to your death with no escape. I lied, I still hate elevators more. Just thinking about them can make me shiver.
We pulled into school and took our usual parking space thanks to Joel’s social position. As we exited the car we were greeted by Ariel and her stalker buddies. Her hair looked particularly red today maybe she re-dyed it over the weekend. Hmm I wonder what her real name is, I knew it wasn’t Ariel but she definitely suited it. She gave me her usual glare which I returned with my sweetest smile just to annoy her, and judging from her facial expression I had succeeded.
Kyle and I walked into school together. He walked with me to my locker, which had a cocky prick stood in front of it. I sighed, “What do you want?” he turned grinning but his face suddenly turned cold at the sight of Kyle stood next to me.
I turned to see Kyle had a stormy expression on too. I glanced between the two of them who were stiff from the sight of each other. Kyle finally turned to me, “I’ll see you later Holly” he said coldly before turning and leaving taking most of the tension with him.
I stared at Jared who looked completely emotionless, “What was that all about?” I knew it was none of my business but it didn’t stop me from being curious.
I pushed passed Jared to get to my locker, “Nothing” he mumbled as I put books into my locker.
I dropped the subject and went back to my previous question, “So why are you stood outside my locker?” I raised an eyebrow. I hadn’t seen Jared since we went to the diner after the football match and I didn’t see any reason for him to be hanging out near my locker.
“What? Can’t I wait for my friend at their locker?”
“Since when are we friends?” I growled and began walking to my homeroom.
He pretended to look hurt, “Ouch! That really hurt Holly bush”
I spun around to face him. He didn’t notice until it was too late and walked straight into me. I stumbled backwards and fell on my butt. Ouch! Jared was bent over in laughter I glared at him but he was too pre-occupied to notice. He held his hand out to help me up but instead I used to the floor. I continued to glare at him, “Don’t call me Holly bush” I grumbled.
He laughed again, “Yeah, you’re right I don’t think it’s gonna stick. But you are being especially prickly today.”
“Wow I’m flattered, how did you get so charming?” I cut him off before he could answer “its Monday, why are you so chirpy?”
He gave me one of his infectious grins, and I actually had to restrain myself from grinning back. “I had a good weekend, thank you for asking.”
“I didn’t”
“Well since you asked my weekend was good because”
I cut him off, “I really don’t want to hear about how many girls you were with and how clueless they were, because frankly I’m not interested” I then stormed off into my homeroom and sat in my usual seat waiting for Blake and Joel to come.
When lunch finally rolled by to say I was relieved would be an understatement, the day was going painfully slow. Plus I was starving. I got into the lunch queue by myself but instantly ran into Kyle and his friends. I greeted them all even though I’ve never met any of his friends.
Kyle tried to shoo me away but I just frowned. “You can’t be seen with me, your popularity status will drop if you are seen this close to us.”
