Donghyuck's POV

My heart was pounding out of my chest as I sprinted out of my house the moment Jaemin came across my mind. I was supposed to go see if he was alright and comfort him if he wasn't.

But, that damn letter had me distracted the whole afternoon. Getting a letter two days consecutively filled me with dread that I might be receiving one everyday.

The guy who said he'd help me also bailed out and I could only curse my terrible fate.

Destiny seemed to hate me specially since that same guy was walking in my direction but, thankfully didn't seem to have noticed me. Turning right into a cafe, I discreetly walked in through the crowd and took a seat far inside the cafe. As I looked out the glass windows to see if he passed by the shop, I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"Is this seat taken?"
I turned around to meet the eyes of the one person I was trying to avoid, other than the most obvious person.

He was gesturing towards the seat in front of me and I hesitantly shook my head.

He grinned before plopping down comfortably on the chair while I unconsciously stared at him, being distracted by why he even came up to me after he had exclusively told me to never meet him again.

Before I could ask him, he waved to a waiter who rushed to him to take his order.

"What do you want?" Mark looked up from the menu as if expecting me to say what my order was.

Sinking my nails into the cusion of the seat, I shook my head. All I wanted was to get out of there but, of course I couldn't say that.

"Don't be shy, it's my treat."
He didn't bother meeting my eyes as he scanned the menu. For a brief second, it looked like he wanted to say something else but he only let out a sigh before looking up to see if I made my decision.

"I.. I think I have to go."
I stood up from my seat while his eyes followed me in surprise.

The softness in his expression seemed to have disappeared and he looked just as cold as he did on the first day I met him which made me even more uncomfortable being around him.

"Wait!"
I would have ignored him if it weren't for how loud he called out, making others around us stare at the scene he created.
"I just wanted to say-- Tomorrow, after school, meet me at the rooftop. I made a promise to help you, I can't ditch you halfway. That's all. You can go, if you want."

He sat back down and turned back to the waiter who looked sorry as if he was interfering something.

"If.. if I wanted to stay?"
I had no idea what I was saying anymore, it was as if he had entranced me with his words.

His eyes lit up and he nodded enthusiastically.
"Then, join me for a date."
