The next morning, Fable and I were separated to attend to our duties, and with the weight of wanting to see her again, I was going mad. All throughout important meetings, I couldn't stop thinking about her. Her body. Her mind. Her.

I tiredly rubbed a hand across my face, the stubble poking my finger. A sudden slam of the door caught my attention and the dark floppy hair of my best friend, Spencer, made me smirk slightly. Spencer came into view seconds later, a harsh frown on his usual smiling face. I frowned as well, leaning forward. "What's wrong?"

Spencer sighed and sat down, running a hand through his hair and looking at my desk with tired blue eyes. "It's the raids. They're getting worse." He replied, and I swore harshly. The raids weren't uncommon, and when you're a widely hated political authority, you'll get backlash. But, these raids weren't normal.

They had an air of someone who knew what they were doing. Not just simple attacks from rebelling citizens. And, Spencer and I both knew exactly who was doing such things.

"Last night, one of the main deliveries of supplies for the villagers was taken over and all of the crops were destroyed. Every last one." Spencer spoke solemnly and I looked at him in horror. It's not just harmless play anymore.

"Fuck. We need to think of something." I said, getting out of my chair quickly and pacing the room. I sent for the captain of my guard and minutes later, he arrived. The buzzed blond hair of my captain was familiar, and his cold brown eyes were stern as always.

"Yes, Your Majesty?" Asked Captain Jasper. I sighed, rubbing a hand over my jaw again. "The raids are getting worse. Now, they're attaching our citizens' crops and fertilizer." Jasper nodded, looking thoughtful. "We could set a trap."

I looked at him, encouraging him to speak further. "We could set up a false truckload of supplies, so when they attack, we surprise them." It was a simple idea, but it was worth a shot.

"That could work. We would have to have backup, though. If they keep this up, we could run out of supplies for the winter." I said, earning nods from both gentlemen.

"Alright, you're dismissed, but I want you to talk with the guards." Jasper nodded again and bowed before exiting the room. Spencer huffed in amusement for a second before looking at me. "I suppose I should get back to my family. See ya' later, Wispy." He taunted me, winking his left eye and leaving me in the room alone.

I sighed for what seemed like the millionth time today, recalling the events of the past week and leaning back. Then, I remembered all of the paperwork and contracts I had to sign and groaned in annoyance. I leaned forward and soon became lost in my work.

I sung under my breath, pulling my red hair up into a messy bun while simultaneously flipping the page. I smiled at the characters before bookmarking my spot and shutting the novel. I groaned and stretched my muscles, trying to find out what time it was. The large clock hanging on the wall told me 2:14. As in morning.

I felt my eyebrows raise and I laughed silently at myself for reading until the early hours of dawn. I wasn't tired, surprisingly, but I did want Whisper. I scrunched my face up at my clinginess and set the book down, reluctantly pulling my legs out from under me and cringing as I heard very loud pops. I stood, causing my bones and joints to crack, and walked to the door to the hallway.

Everything was dimly lit, and I knew it was because of the time. Thank God I wasn't hungry, or else I would've gone up and above to get a snack in darkness. I relied on my memory to find Whisper's office, and it took me to an empty hallway with two grand double doors. I opened them while also tiptoeing inside.

There he sat, his hand underneath his chin, and snoring away. I cupped my hand over my mouth to suppress my giggles as I walked over to him, peering at him through the candle-lit darkness. He looked impeccably handsome for being asleep, and I almost swooned, but kept it in as I came to his side.

I gently shook him and he made a small gurgle noise in response. I really did giggle at him, the sound gently echoeing in the darkness. How creepy.

He opened his eyes halfway, looking extremely tired, and blinked his eyes. His dark brows furrowed and he sat back, adjusting to the darkness before his eyes locked onto my shaking figure. He looked so cute, I was laughing to myself.

A small, lazy smile broke out onto his face and he reached over and grasped my waist, pulling me into his lap while yawning. I giggle during into his chest and I heard his deep, quiet chuckles. "Why are you laughing, Princess?" He said, then shook his head. "No wait... My Queen." He looked deeply into my eyes and I felt my heart warm with love for him.

"Stop..." I drew out softly, almost whining. "You're gonna make me cry." He frowned. "Don't cry." He cupped my face and kissed me, making me melt into his hold and sigh.

He gripped my waist, slipping his hand underneath the large shirt I stole from him. I gasped as his warm hands drew content shapes on my bare back, allowing for his tongue to slip into my mouth and fight with my own.

He groaned and pulled away, his dark eyes twinkling in the low lighting. "I suppose we should go to bed now." I panted quietly and nodded, making him set me on the ground and stand, only to pick me up in his large arms again.

He carried me down the hall, and I yawned. I somehow became so tired in his arms. Soon, we reached the library and he walked up the staircase to his loft, me playing with his soft black hair whilst we walked.

Soon, he laid me down on the bed and stepped back, pulling off his shirt and unbuckling his pants before slipping in the bed and pulling me to him. He smiled softly at me and his gaze flickered from my eyes to my lips.

"You're so beautiful, I can't help but think about you. It's like you're an annoying fly." I gaped and playfully smacked his chest, earning a couple cheerful chuckles from him. He shook with amusement and I grumbled, a smile on my face.

"So cute." He mumbled in my hair, and I shivered from his warm breath. "You're the cute one. I didn't even know you snore until a couple minutes ago." He huffed, making me giggle softly as I leaned onto his chest.

Sleep entered my mind and I sighed quietly as my eyes flickered shut, the sound of Whisper's breathing calming me. I could've sworn I heard him say something, but I was alseep before I could decipher it. The last thing I registered was his arms wrapping around me and pulling me closer.

"I love you."
