Heavy thunder boomed and lighting flashed brilliantly, awakening me from my sleep. I was startled awake, and then momentarily blinded by the lighting. It was morning, but the skies were dark grey and the weather was brumous.

I looked around for Whisper, but his side of the bed was icy cold. He had been gone for a while. I pulled myself out of the warm sheets and then to the bathroom, where I brushed my teeth and went to the bathroom. It seemed the morning was slow.

I really wanted to go outside, but then I remembered Whisper may not want me to catch a cold from the weather. Ah, screw it. He's not my dad.

No, but he's you're daddy. I felt my eyes widen and I sputtered as I rinsed my mouth of toothpaste, momentarily choking as I registered Ophelia's words. Dude. What the fuck?

I felt her shrug in the back of my mind. You have to admit it sooner or later. I rolled my eyes, feeling my cheeks surge bright red as I left the bathroom. It seemed they weren't going to calm down, so I let my hair cover my face.

I'm not going to admit Whisper's my daddy. That's just fucking weird. She smirked. You know I'm right. She's one kinky fucking wolf.

I shivered as my bare feet met the cold wood, confusion lacing my mind as I looked around. The halls were empty and no guards were stationed anywhere. I furrowed my brows and padded to Whisper's office, the one place I knew there was going to be at least some activity.

I was right. I heard a few voices speaking solemnly from within the closed doors. One of them I immediately recognized as Whisper's. With a frown, I decided I should wait until they're done talking. So, I waltzed to the kitchen.

I heard happy hums erupting from the large space and I couldn't keep the joyful smile from crossing my face as I caught sight of Frederic. He was happily flipping chocolate chip pancakes and humming to himself. He smiled at me as soon as I walked in and sat down, his dark brown eyes warm and comforting.

"Hello, Dear. Hope you like chocolate chip pancakes." I nodded vigorously and he laughed heartily, flipping a few pancakes onto a plate in a perfect stack.

As I ate, the question that had been on my lips left. "What's going on?" For once, I saw the warmth drain from his eyes just the slightest and the usually jolly man sighed. "Raids. King Whisper and the captain of the guard are discussing how to possibly stop them from happening."

I immediately stopped eating and set my fork on my plate. "Raids? What kind of raids?" And why haven't I heard about this yet?

Frederic looked at me in surprise. "You mean Whisper hasn't told you? That boy," he shook his head. "Shipments of supplies for the villagers have been getting raided from a very dangerous rogue pack. In fact, just recently a very large shipment had been raided an destroyed, leaving valuable resources in smithereens." He shook his head sadly.

I gasped. "Why the hell hasn't Whisper told me? I'm his mate and I'm..." Queen? Not yet, but I thought he would trust me with such urgent issues. He's going to fucking get it.

"I know, Dear, and I'm sorry. I thought he would've told you. I just hope he knows what he's done." Said Frederic. I know he's trying to make me feel better, but I'm now boiling with anger.

"I'm going to kill him." I spoke through my teeth. I stood from the table and marched out of the kitchen, leaving a disappointed Frederic behind. I marched straight into Whisper's office, not caring that I just interrupted something important.

Everyone's eyes snapped towards me, but I was still seething with anger. My face was stoic, but I could tell flames burned in my eyes. If he thinks that leaving me out of important decisions is wise, I'll castrate him.

"Fable. What's wrong?" Whisper asked, standing from his seat at the end of the table. I took deep breaths, saving my yelling for when we're alone and cleared my throat. "I have to have a little talk with my mate. Leave."

My tone was icy and dangerous, leaving most of the guards with fear in their eyes as they quickly started to stand. "Wait. What is the meaning of this?" I could see a furious expression crossing Whisper's face and, without another word, I marched up to him and grabbed him by the ear. I dragged him out of his chair and out into the hall.

"What the fuck?" He boomed, grabbing his now red ear. I shook with anger. "What the fuck do you think you're doing keeping things like raids from me?" I yelled.

Guilt blossomed in his eyes, along with anger of course, and he tried to speak, but I didn't stop. "I'm your mate! Your mate! Not your second in command, nor you buddy. You didn't tell me about something that could possibly endanger my family and my people." My tone had quieted the smallest amount, but was still loud enough for the people in the entire castle to hear.

Whisper opened his mouth to say something, but I held up my hand. "No. It's fine. I'm fine. I guess I'm not as important as I thought." I then turned round and left him standing there.

I started running to the library, but I knew he would find me there, so I ran to the castle doors. I ran outside and into the pouring rain, my feet sloshing in the puddles. I needed to clear my head. Soon, I started running on all fours and I felt warmer as fur sprouted along my body.

Are you okay, Fable? Ophelia asked softly. I'm fine. No you're not. I know Whisper left you out of an important problem—very important—but you need to be the bigger person. I sighed, letting out all of my frustration. I know. I just can't trust him. He left me out of one problem, who knows how many more I don't know about?

Ophelia nodded her head, the smell of rain comforting me as we stopped. Well, I know that he's not gonna get any pleasure for a while. I felt a small smile poke at my lips. He's gonna have to do it himself. We both laughed and I felt the weight ease off my chest.

Of course I was still mad, but I do love him, and when you love someone, you can't stay mad at them. Here, here. Shut up.
