I widened my eyes in shock at him. How did he know?
"Your features are far too feminine," Zander explained, giggling.
This guy is sending me weird signals. He plays as the oblivious, fun kid, but I'm actually scared that there is another side of him. Then again , he did just expose me, so I guess it makes sense I feel this way.
"So what's your actual name? Don't worry, I won't tell anyone," he promised, putting a finger to his lips and making a 'sh' sound.
I gave him a half smile. He is still the same Zander to me. Maybe my gut tells me wrong?
"(Your Name)," I admitted, a blush taking over my face.
Zander smiles at me and took the empty bento box from my hands.
"Well, I'll be happy to meet the real (Your Name) whenever you come over for food," Zander teases, sending me a wink.
The bell rings which caused me and Zander to sigh sadly. We both waved each other off and in a different direction, we went.
I climbed back into the safer spot of the rooftop and pulled my schedule out.
Language Arts?
That isn't so bad.
I turned my heel and walked all the way down the stairs. Of course, me not knowing my way around, I was looking through hallways and peeking through classrooms.
I'm so dumb. I don't know where I am even going! Maybe I should've followed Liam and asked.
"Excuse me, are you lost?" A voice called out.
I turned around and met eyes with a teacher. He was in his thirties, but he looked really young. I guessed he was a teacher by his attire.
"Yes," I answered, blushing in embarrassment.
He smiled and motioned for the schedule. I grabbed it out of my pocket and handed it to him.
"Language Arts? Well, you have me!" He grinned.
I flashed a smile at him too. Well, at least I have a good teacher.
I followed his steps as he walked towards his classroom. When I put one foot in the class, the bell rang, and I sighed in relief.
"Okay, class! Today I will be assigning seats!" The teacher announces, drawing a seating chart on the board.
I looked around the room and it seems like I don't know anyone here. I glanced at the corner of the room and saw a familiar face.
Ray?
He had a bruise on his cheek for some reason? Strange, but I hope he got what he deserved.
"(Your Guy Name) and Ray, you both will be sitting in the back in the far left corner," the teacher said, pointing at the seating chart.
Well, looks like I'll be finding out what happened after all.
I sat down in the seat. The chairs are so comfy here and I love it so much. The left side is where the windows are, so I picked the seat closest to the window.
I looked for Ray, trying to see if he is okay with my spot. Instead, he was talking to a teacher.
All I could make out was, "Go to the nurse."
Then, Ray left before he could even sit by me.
That's kind of weird. Wouldn't he go to the nurse before going to class? This'll be rather boring.
"Okay, class, we will be learning about famous literature in history!" The teacher states.
I tapped my pencil throughout the class. This class is pretty boring for now. All we are doing is just reading certain spots of the books.
I stared at the clock and waited until this class was over. It felt like I've been here for more than what we are supposed to.
Then, the bell rang and I sighed in relief.
I went to the teacher and asked for my schedule back and assistance on finding my next class. He was okay with it and lead me through a series of hallways. I took mental notes of the places I passed.
"This is art," my teacher says, motioning towards the door.
I mumbled a small 'thank you' and headed inside.
To my surprise, Ryland was there on his phone. He was blowing a bubble with his gum and his feet were on the desk.
He's always so disrespectful. A teen going through an edgy phase in life.
Everyone was already in their seats, talking to other people. I guess I have to sit next to him now. I walk to the seat next to him and sat down on the comfy, rolling chairs.
Ryland glared at me and turned his head around. I guess he isn't really a social guy.
The bell rings and the teacher stands up from his desk. He was an old guy, but he wasn't an old grumpy man. He was just a small man with a bright smile.
"Hello, class! We will be painting, so grab a canvas and I want you to paint something from the past that you never forgot. Be positive!" He chirped, sending a thumbs up.
"Aye, Aye, Captain!" The class hollers back which makes the teacher smile.
I grabbed a canvas and put it on my desk along with other art supplies. Then, I started lightly brushing the canvas with the tools. A memory I can never forget?
I closed my eyes, letting my mind take over my whole body and paint a memory.
I opened my eyes, not to see mine though. I opened them just to see Ryland's painting.
A woman with a halo above her head hugging a man with a mask on his face.
I wonder what he means by this. Unless..
"Ryland, I-"
"Don't," he snarls, gripping the brush tighter.
He painted the words, "Party of Blood."
Then, I realized that maybe,
Maybe we are alike after all.
