chapter four
-&-

So here we are.

Today is my first day of college and I was beyond nervous.

To even say I was nervous is an understatement on how I was actually feeling, I don't know what people my age are like around her.

But I just need to keep reminding that I can do this. Just push back my negative thoughts and go on with it.

I'm glad I choose to live a home than at the College because that would have been a lot more pressure on my part.

Standing in front of the mirror, I picked out a nice, formal outfit for my first day. Not something that could make me stand out, just blend in.

I just went with simple blue jeans and a jumper that I tucked in. The colors on my jumper were black and beige, nothing that would make me put out there.

Even though my body was begging to get back in my sweats and in my bed.

I knew mom wouldn't let me.

I walked out of my closet and stopped when I noticed my balcony doors were open. I haven't opened them this morning, so I don't know how they are opened now.

Slowly walking over to them, I peeked out to see my mom standing there, looking out at something in front of her.

I didn't even hear her enter.

She jumped a little and turned around fast, giving me a smile. "Honey, how are you?" she asked, stepping towards me, back into the room. She wrapped an arm around me, leading us more into the room.

Looking back to the balcony, I just shrugged off the weird feeling.

"Good, well nervous, I just hope everything goes well," I said and walked from her arms, taking a seat on the bed. "I know if I go earlier to sign in, I won't bump into a lot of people,".

Which isn't a lie.

I know for a fact people wouldn't want to get to college early so if I did, then maybe I don't have to be with a large group of people.

She chuckled. "Honey, trust me, everything will be fine. Look, I'll go down and prepare breakfast, be down in five, okay?" she said heading to the door.

Nodding my head, I stood up walking over to my chair in the corner of the room and grabbed my grey bag.

I had a notepad in there also pens, a book, and my phone. I wanted to be prepared for anything.

Walking over to my desk. I also picked up my drawing pad, sticking it in my bad as well. I draw occasionally so maybe during my breaks I could just doodle.

I looked around for anything I needed when my eyes set on the circle jewelry pot sat on the table beside my bed.

Walking up to it, sitting down on my bed. I opened it and saw the locket sitting there.

I should wear it, today of all days.

I picked it up and smiled to myself as my finger ran over the engraving. Walking back over to my closet again, I stared in the mirror as I clipped the locket around my neck.

Moving my hair back, so I could get a proper look at the locket, I smiled proudly.

Now I'm ready.

I tucked it under my shirt and walked out of my closet, closing the door behind me. I rushed to pick up my stuff again and walked out of my room, making my way down the stairs.
