We walked outside. The air still smelling of sea wind, we took a walk to the center. It looked pretty far away. The town was like four long roads to a center all area. About 15 minutes of painful silence, Halo broke the ice and grabbed my hand, then said: "It's a wonderful day here today, Dawn."
He was white skinned, and had black hair and wore dark clothes.
"Yeah, guess it is..." I smiled at the thought of it all. It's almost perfect!
"So, where are you from?" Halo asked.
"I'm from... from..." I muttered.
"Yeah?"
"I... I don't know."
"Oh... we may want to talk to Israel about this"
That name made me uncomfortable. I don't know why.
"What's wrong?" He looked me in the eyes.
The first time we made eye contact. His eyes were hazel, but not. It was more like a bright tone of gray.
"N-nothing." I said nervously.
"Okay..." He looked away.
I sighed with relief. What came over me there?
He then, after walking absently for a while, smiled again and let go of my hand, and began to spin toward the center. It looked like we were halfway there. This is a very long street.
I stared at him for a while, then I followed, spinning myself. He stopped abruptly, and I suppose I was glad.
He almost fell, so I held him up for a minute.
"Calm down, you don't want to make yourself dizzy beyond recognition!" I playfully scolded.
"Y-yeah, guess not." He smile at me.
"Um... why is nobody here?" I asked a bit more seriously. I felt as if I already knew him closely.
"Oh... uh... nobody likes to go out nowadays." He said, a bit solemnly,
"Why?" I asked. "It's wonderful!"
"It's not safe anymore." He mumbled, and looked at me.
"Oh..."
I don't bring it up again for the entire walk there. We just walked, and talked about how much we both like limes.
Once we reached the central area, he invited me into a restaurant type of place.
We sat, I ordered a salad, with lime and lemon in it. (They actually sold that! Yes!) and with Tomato and a lot less lettuce. My favorite fruits... I think. Are tomatoes a veggie? Whatever.
After one bite, I immediately fell in love. The sour-tart-ish mix was perfect!
Halo ordered a bowl of ramen. Respectable, but I'm watching my diet.
The people inside were like townsfolk would've been in the late 1700s.
But they are all kids, ages 5 to 17 to the looks of it.
After we finished eating in silence, (I took a lot longer because he must absolutely adore ramen, it was gone in 5 minutes.) we began to talk about the town.
"So, um, what's so dangerous?" I asked hesitantly.
He seemed a lot more open about it now.
"There's a force above us, and sometimes, he strikes. He sends minions of his, and they are strong. It takes some of the strongest warriors to take them down. I don't like to fight, so I don't go out often either."
"Wait, you fight?" I was stunned. It didn't seem like him to fight. Suddenly, I felt like I've lived here forever.
"Yeah, and it's hard. I was wounded badly once, so I can't fight officially..." He then whispered to me, "But I often sneak out during the strikes."
I said we should go, because I was antsy and wanted to leave.
He accepted and then we began toward the plaza, which had a huge town-hall looking thing in the center.
