Chapter Seven: C
It wasn't like Zayn to act like this, the sadness and terror in his heart he kept locked away for nobody to see and Louis seemed to be the only one with the key to really know how he felt. At times like these Louis knew how to handle it, he knew to hold his best friend and he knew to stay silent and let his emotions take over.
Curled up into a ball on his bed was where he was curled up when he arrived in Zayns house. The lights were dim, the blinds were closed and only a spot of light was appearing, marking over his face where a tear was shown. Louis knew what to do, he walked over to the bed and curled around his best friend, wrapping an arm over his torso and nuzzling his face into his neck to know that he was here.
There was nothing first, just the sounds of Zayn softly sniffling and the birds chirping outside of his window. It came out all at once, the sound of his best friend choking out a cry, the sound of all his emotions coming out, the sound of him breaking that shell that only Louis saw.
"I love her" Zayn sobbed and wiped his eyes, the tears just flowing out after the attempt to wipe them away. Louis knew he was talking about Perrie, the pain he was so familiar with. The heartbreak that Zayn felt was one Louis knew he could never understand, the repeated stab in the heart that has consumed him ever since she broke up with him the first time.
"I know" Louis whispered and drew circles of comfort on Zayns arm. He knew that all he wanted was for Zayn to be happy, for his heartbreak and misery to diminish into thin air and leave him to have his happy ending. Louis watched as Zayn sat up from his bed and looked directly into Louis eyes.
"Its not fair. All I ever did was treat her right, all I ever did was love her unconditionally. Through her flaws, through her struggles, I loved her for every little thing she was. Why does he get to have her, what did he ever do to make her stop loving me" Zayn whimpered. Louis knew he wouldn't get much context just yet, it was how he vented, he yelled about how angry he was with little to no explanation.
"Who's he?" Louis asked softly, not wanting to be the start of Zayns tears, "only if you are ready to share"
"This dude named fucking James, James for Christ sake. All he has to do is come around and say hi and shes whipped, all he had to do was nothing. I've done everything, everything I can possibly do and it's not enough, what can I do for it to be enough!!" Zayn yelled through tears, bashing his balled up fists onto his soft white sheets that Louis could tell had just been washed.
"Sometimes- sometimes people don't realise that what they have until its gone. She will realise that. James will treat her like absolute crap and she will come running back to you" Louis frowned, " But think about it Zayn, think about everything you've done for her and then think about what she's done to you?"
"I don't care" Zayn whispered and stood up from his bed, pacing around his dark room, "I don't care I don't care"
"Its going to be okay Zayn, it's going to be okay" Louis stood up and placed a hand on Zayns shoulder, feeling himself break into pieces as he fell to the floor in nasty sobs.
"Nothing will ever be okay without her"

When Louis walked into the bakery the smell of fresh breads and coffee filled his nose. The refreshing air that made him realise how stuffy Zayns room had actually been. After ages of calming his best friend down Louis decided to buy him one of his favourite croissants, which just so happened to be where Harry worked.
