The night before the event. New and Tay are sitting by the beach where they first met. Now, he finds it funny reminiscing what he did when he saw Tay. How can he walk away knowing that someone is around other than him at his own paradise? Also, no one has ever been there late at night.
He looked at Pete whose attention is focused on what's in front of them. Which is the sea and the rest is complete black. Thank God for the moon that produces a little light.
Tay might felt someone is staring at him and knowing that it's just the two of them, then the answer would be him.
"What?" Tay questioned him and now facing each other.
He shakes his head.
"Nothing. What time are you leaving tomorrow?" He asked and felt a sting in his chest. Yes. He's leaving tomorrow.
Flashback
A long silence. Tay breaks free and moved back at him. A little disappointed because he feels good inside Tay's arms. Of course, he can't just tell him that. His eyes followed him the moment he went down and seated at his couch instead.
"Newwiee Thitipoom." He suddenly feels nervous upon Tay calling him with his whole name. He just looks at him; waiting. New wanted to listen but a part of him wants to be deaf.
"New." That made him curious what he's gonna tell him.
"Hmm." Looking outside made him relax a bit and stayed like that. Tay's serious voice is making him not want to look at all.
"What if... What if I suddenly leave?" New looked at him as quick as possible but Tay's not looking at him at all.
"Then I'll wait for your return." He replied casually. It's not like he's not gonna come back. Right? Is he? But if ever Tay really did leave then that means he's back from the start. Again.
"What if it'll be a long time?" Still not looking at him.
"Like a day? Or week?" He needs to confirm. New thinks he can manage if it's not that long. He guessed.
A long silence before he speaks. "Like months." Now looking at him. He can now totally see his expression and his eyes told him the possibility of not seeing each other for a long time. It scares Newwiee by only thinking about it.
New smiled but didn't reach his eyes. Now he thinks about it, Tay is at the resort for vacation. He's just to occupied by the fact that he got a new friend, or maybe more than that, after a long time being alone. That he feels like someone is out there, Tay to be exact is actually treating him as the real New. That even though it's just the 2nd day of their so-called friendship, it feels like they've known each other for a long time.
"New." Tay called him. Later did he know that he's only smiling at him but not saying anything.
As New's about to say something, he felt something stuck on his throat. He tried to clear it silently for Tay not to notice but failed. His eyes starting to blur because of tears ready to fall off. Before Tay could notice it he rested his head to his gathered knees.
"We can still call each other." New suggested that even he is having a hard time hearing it. Even without closing his eyes, bullet of tears fell and landed to his pants. Good things it's black. He won't be able to see it. But the tears just keep falling. Shit! This is so embarrassing.
"New." Tay called his name again but he doesn't want to look at him. Well, definitely because he'll see him crying because he's leaving. Which is pathetic but it really hurts just by the thought of it.
New jolted seeing Tay's feet beside him. Standing next to him. He quickly wiped his tears off before looking at Tay.
"I'm fine. No worries." New smiled trying not to tear up again.
End of Flashback
Tay can't help but worry about New once he leaves. Even he doesn't want to leave yet. This vacation is supposed to be for at least a week which he protested but it's different this time after meeting New. He wanted to stay longer if not only because of his business. His cousin is making too many mistakes. Little did he know that she's only distracted. He found out, courtesy of his mother, that her ex-fiancé is wooing her again.
Tau looked at New and he's not even shocked that the guy is also looking at him. His eyes are again red and glassy. Trying to hold the tears from forming. If only there's another way. Guess he'll just make the most out of it.
Tay pinched New's face which made him pout. He laughed at how cute his friend is even though he's as huge as him. If New would be a cat, then he'll definitely adopt it. He's a dog person but he'll reconsider if it's New.
"P'Tay." New whined while massaging his cheeks.
"You said we'll call each other but why do you still have that face?" It was his suggestion after wailing that made him feel guilty of leaving him.
"I know. It's just that I got used to it with you always around." New reasoned out but still, the pout is visible.
He moved closer to him and laid his arm over his shoulder and massaging his other arm.
"I'm having a second thought already." It's his turn to pout but to his amusement, New glared at him.
"But your company needs you."
"That's true. But I'm worried that you'll imprison yourself again in your room." And let out a deep sigh. "What should I do?" As if I'm in dilemma.
New blinked his eyes fast to get rid of the tears. He looked at him directly to his eyes with confidence. More on mixed emotions. Trying to be strong.
"I won't. I'll even welcome you the next time you come back. I'll be the same."
He let him go and moved back. He saw New change expression. Overthinking with what he just told him.
"I'll be better. I'll try to go out more often." He then said with both fist in front of him.
He shakes his head knowing he might not recognize him if he does that. Tay looked at New imagining he's happily having a conversation to a total stranger. Confident and approachable. Like what normal people would do. Why does he hate the idea?
"P'Tay?" New called him. A hint of concern in his eyes.
Tay reach of the guy's face using both hands. Cupping and grabbing his cheeks using his thumbs.
"There's no need to change yourself, New. If they can't accept you being the real you then they don't deserve your attention at all."
Tay sees happiness in New's face. New nodded understanding what he meant. He's supposed to let go of his face but ended up just looking at him in the eyes. How he wishes to be with this guy longer. His eyes focused on the guy's lips slightly wet and reddish from too much self-biting. If he's not controlling himself, he might kiss him right there and then and regret it in the end. Because Newwiee considered him as his friend. A trustworthy friend who wouldn't do anything stupid.
He groaned letting go of his face and just face the endless sea in front of him.
