Moving to the middle of nowhere has led me to McKinley High School, in a podunk town full of Lima Losers who'll never amount to anything. I pull into the lot of this dump, in my old red '57 Bel air, anything but happy to start a new school year. Moving to an entire new school, across the country in your Sophomore year isn't exactly ideal because not only am I in a Loser town, I had to leave my best friend, Kaydon, behind. I feel my phone buzz in my lap, it's from Kaydon.

Kaydon the Giant: hey Lees i miss u. I just wanted to wish you luck at your new school. Plz don't try to kill anyone because im not there to provide the alibi. Luv u Girlie.

Reading these words made me smile and loosen up a bit, knowing that even if he was miles away I still had him with me. I quickly reply:
Me: miss you too dude. Thanks imma need it by the looks of this place. Can't make any promises Love you too.

I get out of my car and look around to take in the scene. The first thing I see is a group of football players cornering a scrawny kid with a very loud sense of fashion into the dumpster. Were they going to throw him in?

Trying to play savior, I pull the strap of my bag onto my shoulder and rush towards that particular group. In the truest fashion to my character, I'm not even here 5 minutes and I'm already getting into something. "I'm sorry is there a problem here? I'm new here and I do believe that you have my guide cornered so if you'll excuse us," I say faster than they could comprehend, shoving my away past the Jolly Green Giant, who reminds me of Kaydon, and Mohawk and grabbing the scrawny kid by the collar of his jacket.

I hear them holler for me in their deep and baffled voices as I continue to walk with this kid toward the school's entrance. Once we've gone through the front doors and are out of anyone's line of sight, I stop to introduce myself to my companion, "Hey, sorry for kidnapping you. It looked like you needed some help. I'm Xaellia Torres, but please call me Lia or Xae. My family calls me Xae. I'm a transfer student."

He looks at me with confusion and admiration, smiling at my random act of kindness, "Yeah that kind of stuff happens everyday. Just watch out for a slushie, that's their go to weapon. I'm Kurt Hummel. "

The kindness and fear in his eyes are evident, suggesting that he isn't used to someone treating him like a person. I gently smile at him, asking him to show me around, give me a basic 'How To' on McKinley High. We begin walking down the hall and we see a tall woman with short blonde hair, wearing a red track suit and terrorizing some tiny freshmen. Before I even asked him who the woman was, Kurt was already explaining, "That's Coach Sylvester. She's a monster, has no regard for rules and only favors her Cheerios!, so unless you're a cheerleader just try to stay off her radar."

I nod my head, indicating I understand and to move onto the next subject. Then we see Mohawk from this morning throw a cherry slushie into some girl with a big nose's face which segwayed into Kurt's next point, "Subject matter number 2, avoid the Cheerios! and or the football players because you will receive a 'slushie facial'. But other than that you should be good."

A 'Slushie Facial'? Though it may be an interesting and almost witty name for the action, the thought of the physical assault with an icy beverage made the anger burn in me. This school absolutely sucks.

Kurt and I round a corner, entering Mr. Schuester's spanish class. He has 'me llamo' written on the board, something that should already be known by now so that gives me the indication that this class is going to be too easy. Beginners Spanish as a Spanish speaker is mind numbing but nevertheless I'm going to fly through this class.
