Regionals

Mr. Schue glumly shuffles into the choir room with a single piece of paper in hand, "Guys, I've got some bad news. You know how we decided on 'Sing' by My Chemical Romance for Regionals. Well, I hold in my hand a cease and desist letter from the band. We can't do it."

"Ugh, it was the perfect anthem," Puck groans. I squeeze his hand to comfort his disappointment.

Mercedes sees this and raises her freshly penciled eyebrow at us, mouthing to me 'Tell me EVERYTHING', "How much do you wanna bet Coach Sylvester had something to do with this?"

"One step ahead of you," Mr. Schue grumbles, telling us what went down between him and Sue.

I impatiently tap my foot, "So, what are we gonna do now?"

Rachel gets up from her chair to have us see her face when she tells us her opinion, "I think...we should write original songs for Regionals."

"I still agree. I've actually been working on a song," I admit, looking down at my notebook with songs.

Puck sees me messing with the corners of the notebook and tries to pry it out of my hand. I smack him hard upside the head with it, which everyone found to be funny.

Santana stops laughing, putting us back on track, "All those in favor of voting Rachel and Lia down a second time?"

Pretty much every person in the room aside from Rachel and I raise their hand before Quinn quickly called the vote to a hiatus, "No, I think they're right. This team works best when we push ourselves and do something a little different."

"Well, that's true but if all the other teams are doing amazing songs. We're not gonna be so good," Mercedes mulls over the idea of writing our own music, coming to a similar thought process I had when finishing my music.

Quinn, however, was fully on the 'Original Music' bandwagon, "You're right, we're not gonna be as good. We're gonna be better. We won't be using other peoples' words or music. It'll be our own. Our own heart, soul, not just our voices. Lia's written a dozen songs and they're all amazing. We have a really talented songwriter in our midst. Rachel? I was thinking maybe you and I could write a song together."

When Quinn complimented my songs, I showed her some in passing yesterday when I was trying to fix a verse on my newest song 'Belong' and she overheard me, I blushed. Kaydon doesn't even know that I write and we grew up together.

Finn smiles at us three girls, "I'm with Lia, Quinn and Rachel. I mean, if these three can agree on something it's probably an idea worth considering."

Santana, for whatever reason, was suddenly very pissed, "W-wait, wait. So, suddenly you three are writing the music for Regionals? No way. I think that everyone should get a chance to write a song."

"Santana's right, we can do this," Sam looks over at me, silently apologizing for opposing Rachel, Quinn and I as the writers.

Mercedes seems to have been sold after Quinn, of all people, jumped on the original song bandwagon, "What do you think Mr. Schue?"

"I think we're doing original songs for Regionals."

Before Glee started the next day, Mr. Schue asked to read some of my stuff and he actually picked one right there and then that he was going to spotlight at Regionals. I jumped up and down, screaming like a little girl as he laughed at my excitement. The last thing he asked of me before rehearsal was tips on how to write a good song.
