Chapter 2- Someone To Talk To

It is early the next morning.
I find myself asleep next to Riley and I don't know how I ended up here.
Mr. Matthews probable saw me asleep and carried me up.
As I turn over Riley's eyes open.

"Hey Peaches. Slept well?" Riley asked and I shake my head.
"How did I end up here?" I ask.
"Josh saw you sleeping and carried you upstairs," Riley said.

I sit up and yawn.

"Time to get up," I said.
"Okay wanna borrow some clothes?" Riley asked and I nod.

She hands me a pair of jeans, a long shirt, socks, boots and a jacket.
I go into her closet and get dressed then she does she same.

"Let's go down," Riley said and we go down the stairs.

The moment we went down I saw Josh.

"Hey Uncle Josh," Riley greets her uncle.
"Morning. Slept well?" Josh asks but I don't answer.

I need to get away and decide on a simple excuse.

"I better call my mom. Excuse me for a moment," I said and is gone.

Josh looks at Riley after Maya had left.
"She okay?" Josh asks.
"Yeah," Riley said and pour coffee in.

Meanwhile Maya is talking to her mom.

"Hi Mom."
"Hi Baby Girl. You okay?"
"No. I'm fine," I said and my mom didn't go further.
"Happy Christmas Maya."

I smile.

"For you too," I said and know what my mom is gonna ask.
"I didn't see you at home last night and your bed is still made up."
"Yeah I spent the night at the Matthews."
"Oh. I have to go," my mom said and I know this is it.
"No it's fine. See you later. Bye."

As the phone goes off I stare into the air.
I always knew that something is gonna happen that will change my life.
I hear someone behind me.

"Some warm coffee," I hear Josh say and take the cup.
"Thank you Josh," I said and take a sip.
"Wow I completely forgot how big of a family the Matthews are."

Josh looks down and I know something is gonna happen.

"Where are yours? If I may ask," Josh said and I sigh.
"Yes. You may. My mom is working every night and throughout the day and my dad left when I was five," I say and could see that Josh is going to say something.

"Cause it happens to the most great people," Josh says and I look at him.

For the first time I didn't hear a I am sorry.
Weird?

"Yeah," I said without sounding too unsure.

Josh smiles at me and then he leaves.
What just happened? I wonder.
I never told anyone about my dad before.
Only Riley.
I trust someone?
Maybe even believe in him.
Not just that I told somebody about my father but I actually felt it.
Love?
A crush?
Maybe made up feelings.
