Chapter 6 - Auggie

It was one week later and I couldn't get over what happened.
Josh actually, basically said that I could make it work.
I can make music work.
Ever since I have been writing and have quite a few songs.
But everyone is about him so I decided to leave them untouched.
Riley said that she wanted to go somewhere this weekend but I didn't say if I wanna go.
I knew it had something to do with Lucas Friar.
If not then I may be wrong.

It was a chilly morning and I was already.
Dressed, backpack packed everything was done.
I never thought that I actually would want to do something else.
But right now I just wanted to go somewhere else.
And I knew that I had to get going.
I grabbed my backpack and head to the Matthews.

"You're early," Mrs Matthews said as soon as I stepped in the apartment.
"Thanks. Where is Riley?" I ask.

"Thought it was you. Auggie doesn't want to get dressed," Riley said.
"I don't have the strength for this," Mrs Matthews said and I sigh.
"Let me go help," I said and went to Auggie's room.

He was back in bed and I knew I had to put my best foot front.
I clear my throat and he sits up.

"What is this? Why don't you want to get dressed?" I ask.
"I don't wanna," Auggie says with his huge brown eyes.

I sigh and sit down next to him.
I brush a brown lock out of his eyes and smile.

"What is it Buddy?" I ask using my nickname for him.

I had plenty.
Buddy, Auggs, Monkey, Bud, Crazy Little Boy just go mention a few.

"Nothing," Auggie says.
"Okay what about if I choose an outfit for you and get ready? You have to go to school," I said.
"Okay."

I lay out an outfit for the little man and then go out.
I go in front and see Mr Matthews is busy with paperwork.
Can only be our essays we handed in last week.
I sigh as I look on my phone for the date.
Tomorrow is Auggie's sixth birthday.
I can hardly believe that.

"I can't believe Auggie is turning six tomorrow. What are we doing then?" I ask.
"That's tomorrow? Shoot," Mrs Matthews says and I know why he is upset.
"Okay leave that to me so you can focus on work. I'll manage," I say.

Auggie comes out in an outfit I chose and sits down next to me.

"That is better. What about you, me and Riley do something together?" I say.
"I have a study session with Lucas and Farkle. Don't you too?"
"Nope. I think I am going to do something with you then. I'll pick you up from kindergarden after school then we can come here. What do you say Bud?" I ask.
"Yeah. I'm hungry."
"Let's get something in your stomach then," Mrs Matthews said.

As soon as we are done eating me and Riley head to school.
There we meet Lucas Friar and Farkle Minkus.
Two of our best friends.
We know Farkle pretty much since we know each other and we met Lucas just a few months ago last year.
Which was pretty exciting being friends with the new guy.

"We meeting you tomorrow at the library?" Lucas asks.
"No I have a play date," I say and the boys first look at each other then at me.
"A what?" Farkle says.

Farkle is the smart guy in school and even when it gets annoying we still tolerate him.
He ha s een our best friend and he said he'll never have to choose one of us.
Which I've always liked.

Lucas is a cowboy.
No secret.
He is from Austin, Texas, and after he moved here Riley has been a lot weirder.
But also nice.
And she ha s een doing effort with how she looks which is also new.

"So Riley. How is everything at home?" Lucas asks and they get into a conversation I don't want to hear.

I then head to my locker where I get my first books.
I then head to Mr Matthew's class.
History.

"Class. I have a surprise. One of you got full points," Mr Matthews said and we all look up.

We knew someone was going to get called up.
It was just a matter of time.

"And not Farkle. He always does good," Mr Matthews said and everyone laughs.
"Okay I am writing your name up then you come to me."

He writes my name on the board and everyone starts talking.
How is this possible?

"Maya," Mr Matthews said and I went up.
"Are you serious?" I ask.
"Yes. Very good work. You did great. Looks like if my brother says you're going to do good it's full marks. Congratulations," Mr Matthews said.

I couldn't believe I did it.
Really.
Full marks?
That will be the first.
